This artical is news worthy because it disscusses the early relese of a murderer. People belive he should not be realesed due to mental unstability and wheather or not he would murder other children. This artical shows two viewpoints and there fore is news worthy.
This Article is definetly newsworthy for many reasons. The fellon will be released very close to our homes so we now are worrying about him coming for us. There is a lot of controversey towards the article and causes the readers to form a side and an opinion about the murderer.
This article is newsworthy because it holds intrest. People want to know when a killer is being released from prision, I personally think he shouldnt be released. This also has proximity and timliness.
This article is definately newsworthy because it has to do with this man named Woodmansee who had brutely murdered and then ATE a 5 year old boy. It is definately more newsworthy then other articles because this event had happend really close to us, in North Kingston, Rhode Island. The picture highlights that people are stressing to keep children as safe as possible from predators like this man.
This topic is newsworthy because EVERYONE should have strong feelings of this matter. This man, is about to be released 12 years early from prison even though he committed a very serious and horrific crime. Everyone should be concerned for their safety, and especially their children's safety since Woodmansee had murdered and eaten a young boy 36 years ago, and then tried to strangle a paperboy only 29 years ago.
The picture shows the townspeople opinions towards the murder. They want to "keep the children safe" and have the murderer stay in jail. There is even a kid in the picture which shows how everyone is affected by the release of the phsycho path.
This article is newsworthy because it has proximity. For us, it is newsworthy because it takes place near us, here in Rhode Island. Also, it has human interest. It is such an uncommon story. One that no one likes to know, yet it holds so much human interest.
This picture was a very good choice because it shows the possible consequences for releasing this dangerous man from prison. She could be his next victim.

I agree with Jossalyn about how this article hold alot of interest, especially to us knowing that a murderer who lived near us is nearing his time of being released.
The most newsworty aspect of this article is the fact that a person is being released from prison that raped, murdered, ate and then saved the bones of a toddler. The worse thing is, the person could reside in an area near any one of the readers. This is under the classification of proximity and human interest.

Many people reading this would be shocked to find out that this man is being released on "good behavoir". I'm sure everyone is scared to have this many released back into society. I especially feel bad for the family that now has to deal with this issue again. This article deals with a unique situation that is not hear of everyday. The picture goes well with the article because it proves that some children and parents are opposed to the release of this man and many find it wrong. This issue is clearly creating controversy which makes it even more newsworthy. Another picture that wouold enhance this article would be a picture of the family who has been affected by this.
The picture shows how the people in the town feel about Woodmansee's release. The little girl in the picture shows how even at such a young age we know whats going on in our state. I agree with Shelby about the picture showing how important our state's children are.
The picture really highlights the effect that the release of Woodmansee is having on people. The child holding the sign is what really gets you because it makes you think of the safety of our children and how the decision of the release is not right at all it is just putting us in danger.
Any picture of an innocent child would be fitting to this article. They would show what we care about the most. It is easy to say that everyone deserves a second chance, but I do not think it is worth the risk of endangering the children. Since this takes place in RI, it is even harder to stay unbiased because I would not want to be living anywhere near Woodmansee.
This article is very newsworthy. I cant believe that someone would ever do that to a child and be able to get out of prison. I dont believe this man should be alive, something this exetreme is anexample of why we should use the death penalty. This article is newsorthy because people should be aware of this man. No man should be able to do that and "get away with it".

This article is definitely newsworthy. Someone was released from prison about thirty years from the time he was accused of murder to a 5 year old child. Many believe that the man will go around to murder more children and releasing the man is insane. The man deifinitely has some mental instability.
I agree with both Kellyn and Jossalyn when they say that this article draws alot of interest from the reader. This is because hearing about such an event makes people want to read more. It makes people want to continue to read to have all of their questions answered.
This article is newsworthy because its such huge news for Rhode Island. Its a message to all child molesters and killers that "If you behave in jail, you can get out early." I'm surprised that tha attorney general is allowing this sick and disturbing man to be released from prison. I'm sure that he'll regret it when he has parents screaming and threatening him.

I think the government or the judge in charge of the sentencing should take another look at this. Clearly, the people are unhappy about this event. I agree with Audrey and Gio. The fact that anyone would even think to let a merry murderer out of prison is insane. They seem to forget that this man killed, ate, and kept the little boy's bones is completely horrifying. How could anyone think to let this man see the light of day or give him another opportunity to kill?

In my honest opinion, I completely disagree with the atorney general's decision to release Woodmansee from jail later this saummer. Why should he get a second chance, a life, if the innocent five-year-old he killed, cannot. This man, should either be behing bars his entire life, or killed, so he can't hurt someone else. Rhode Island hasn't had death-row, because it was abolished due to a death of an innocent man. I think in cases where the perpertrator admits to the crime, changes should be able to be made.

This picture picture highlights the affect of one person's actions. It also show that children care. Woodmansee's actions affect many kids especially younger ones. If younger kids know about this situation they may have more fear. This picture shows parents care and want to keep their kids as safe as they can.
Hayley, I do somewhat agree with you...Having SOME fear is a good thing, because as a result of that fear, you will be come more aware of your surroundings, therefore becoming a little safer and more protective of yourself. Obviously, this will help you not be killed, raped, murdered, eaten etc...On the other hand, you can't let fear override your life. You just need to be smart. Obviously, the chances that this criminal comes and kills you is extremley unlikely, because your one out of 300 US residents. You should however be aware of other criminals who would do the same thing.
I feel this blogg also has Proximity and timiliness. Because this is happening so close to us,it makes us more aware and nervous about the situation. It would be totally different in my eyes if this was happening in far away states like texas or california. I also feel this has timeliness because it is very recent and also this man is out of jail after 27 year which I dont feel is enough time.

Also, they could have shown more people at protest. They could have shown a diverse group of people ranging from old adults to young children and even teenangers.
Personaly, I feel this is a great article to prove why the death penalty should be active! Many people protest that jail for life is worse. Clearly people get out of jail. Nobody wants a pedophile where they live, especially if they have young children. "Good Behavior" in jail makes no sense. For all we know, it may be an act. You should not be able to get out of jail for good behavior because it should be expected. Woodmansee admitted to killing, he should not be granted the freedom of getting out of jail! The death penalty would take this killer who is affecting so many people, off the streets. People can get out of jail even if they are sentenced to life in prison. Woodmansee does not deserve to live on the streets for he is a threat to so many for his previous actions.
