One of the Best
Why is this photo considered one of the best? What words describe this picture? What is the story behind this picture?
I think that this photo is considered one of the best because it has so much emotion behind it. You can see the fear in the boys eyes, asking for help, or to stop.
This photo is considered the best because it shows how scary it is to be children living like this little boy. You can see the fear in his eyes and his body language which makes this photo so heartbreaking. The words that discribe this picture would be, powerful, sad, and heartbreaking. The story behind this picture is a soldier finding a small child scared to death, who was probably sitting by himself in a lonely dark so called "house" starving and and freezing cold.
This photo is considered to be one of the best because it captures so much emotion, and it makes you wonder whats going on and why the boy is frightened. The words that descrbie this photo are frightened, awe-worthy, or scary. From the picture you can guess that someone from the army is either taking the boy away from his hhome, or is being kidnapped maybe.
This photo is considered one of the best because it truly captures the emotion of the little boy within it. It appears to have been taken the minute the reaction occured for the boy looks like he is nervous, scared, and defenseless. He also appears to be screaming and putting his hands up hoping that the man coming towards him will go away. The man coming towards him appears to have a large cylinder like object in his hands. I think the story behind this is a war is occurring and this little boy is innocent and simply scared that the military man from the opposing side is going to harm him.
This picture is so heartbreaking that it is almost unexplainable. This photo is considered one of the best becasuse of the emotion in the boy's face. This boy is helpless. At such a young age a boy should never be exposed to something this bad. Even though I am not sure what is being taken away from the boy, his face tells the story. It says that something that means a lot is being taken away from him. I see an army guy implying the country which he lives must be at war. This little boy can not do much but plead. The worst part of it is that he has to be independent becasue from the picture, he has nobody to depend on. Words that describe this picture are heartbreaking, terrrible, helpless, poor, and just not fair.
This photo is really interesting to look at because you can see the true fear in the boy's eyes as another person is coming toward him. In this one picture it is clear that the boy is in danger and is afraid of the person whose shadow is shown on the wall.
This photo could be considered one of the best because of the emotion it conveys. I would use scared, terrible, violent, death to describe this picture. I guess the story behind this would be it's taking place in a third world country and a soilder or someone in a higher power is using his power of intimidation to scare the boy into doing what he wants.
I agree with McKenzie, the worst part about the photo is the fact that the boy has absolutley noone around to help him, and it doesn't look like he has much hope for survival.
This photo is considered one of the best because of the emotion it shows. It shows a wide range of emotion from fear, danger ect. It makes you wonder what happened to that kid in the photo
I agree with Mckenzie when she says that you can see the story just from his facial expressions, in order to have the best picture you need to capture the story and the audiences attention throughout the emotions in the photograph
I agree with Jenna and Mckenzie, this picture captures all the emotions this boy could be feeling, which is scared, defenseless, and you can see it by his body he wants the man near him to go away.
I agree with Daphne, some words that describe this photo is scary or frightening. I also think that it is very sad. When looking at this photo, it looks as if the boy is right in front of you. Like Mckenzie said, it is a little heartbreaking for anyone looking at this picture must feel bad for the boy. He appears to be an innocent victim of the intense wars going on in his homeland. It's true that this boy seems helpless and it is sad that he has no one around him to help. Nobosy this young should be exposed to a situation like this, (like others said) because they're too young to know how to handle it or react.
Jenna brings up a good point when she said that it was remarkable how the photo was captured at the exact time when all of the boy's emotion in his face. It is evident that the boy is pleading for help or wanting someone to stop. I can only imagine that if the boy's parents were being taken away how hard it must be for him. I also can't imagine how hard it would be if his house was being torn apart and everything was being taken away. Clearly a war is going on around the boy and he should not be witnessing all of this warfare that children should not be exposed to.
I think this photo is the best because it shows genuine fear and a real reason to have fear. The child looks about to get murdered and appears to be seeing something/someone he has been dreading.
This picture is considered one of the best because it sends such a powerful message. As many have said, you can see the fear in the young boy's eye and it really effects you emotionally to look at because you just want to reach out and protect him.
I think that this photo shows how much emotion the boy is revealing and it looks as if he is scared that somebody is there. I think that this is a sad photo because it looks like the boy was hiding from someone and now the person found him and he is scared to death. You can tell he is scared by the look in his eyes and his hand motions to the person coming at him.
I feel this photo is very emotional. It shows a small child scared of a some kind of american solider. you can see the fear in his eye's. It makes me feel bad for him because its only a picture so we dont really know what happens next.
This photo is considered one of the year's best because of the time it was taken. It was a photo that captures the essence, and viewers feel the emotion coming from the little boy, through his eyes, and actions. He seems terrified of who it is in front of him, and yells for help. It seems like the photographer could not have had this shot a second later, as no one can pose for this kind of thing, it is in the moment, and is full of emotions.
I agree McKenzie, this photo is very heart breaking. It is one of the best because it captures a lot of emotion, especially in the young boy's face. His face does tell a story, it shows that something that is means a lot to him is being taken away.
I also agree with Macenzie and everyone before me. The worst part of this photograph is that the child looks helpless. I wonder who is the person coming after the child.
Like Jenna and Mckenzie said, noone should be exposed to something this frightening especially when your this young. When you look at this photo you start to appreciate how well life in america is compared to these other countries where kids are contantly terrified.
This photo is nerve-racking because the next few moments of this event are extremely crucial to the boy's well being. If the man in the shadows intends on harming the boy, which it is obvious that he does, the boy will only have a few seconds left before he is killed.
Like many others said, the boys facial expression, body language, and emotion tells the story all in itself. This photographer did a phenomenol job of capturing the photo at the perfect moment. Not only does the boy look like he is worried, but he looks scared. he looks as if hes begging the man not to come an inch closer for he doesnt want anything to happen to him or his family. I think this because of the way his hands are positioned (out in front). Above everything else, the emotion of the boy helps to potray the worries within him. Just looking at his eyes, one can see his fear.
Along with Jenna and Daphne, I also agree that scary is a good word to describe this photo. Becasue the boy looks so scared, his emotions carry onto the viewer. This poor boy most likely has never been taught how to react to something as bad as what this boy's emotion shows.
I agree with jenna when she said that the little boy appears to be an innocent victim of the intense wars going on in his homeland. It seems like the little boy has to keep hiding from people to stay safe because of what is going on in his homeland.
I agree with Armaan, the photographer got the shot at the right moment and it does capture the emotion and the fear. It also makes me think how someone could photograph this, i know i could never bring myself to watch this kind of thing go on and take a picture of it, its heartbreaking.
I think the story behind this is that the boy is clearly in a poor neighborhood, or perhaps a third world country, I make this inference by the door, because it does not look up to date. He's clearly terrified by the person and the shadow we see who is holding a cylindrical-like object. Perhaps he is stuck in the middle of a war, as we see turmoil going on throughout the middle-east today.
This picture is one of the best because of all the emotion it captures and all the thousands of possible stories that could be behind the picture. Words that describe this picture are fear, innocence, youth, power, repressed, or any other word that relates to the feeling of repressing a life so innocent as the one of youth. The story behind this picture is probably someone who came to bring harm to that little boys family, and he's the first one to defend his life. Which is sad, but unfortunatelky taht's the situation in some countries.
I agree with McKenzie who said how the photo is so heartbreaking it is unexplainable. I too seem to be at a loss of words for this picture because it really does leave you frightened. As Jenna said, the helpless boy has the perfect body language potreyed in the picture to send off the feeling of fear. It really grabs your attention and leaves you thinking after viewing the picture.
I agree with Hayley. This photo does show a lot of emotion. You can see the fear in the little boy's eyes. The child does look helpless, and very scared.
I truly feel bad for this boy. Like Emily said, there are only a few moments after this photo was taken that could decide the fate of the situation. These moments are very crucial for they could determine life or death for this young boy. I cannot imagine being put in this situation and like Daphne said, this picture makes me very appreciative of what I have and the safety I live in. This is another reason this picture is one of the best; it makes you realize how lucky you are and think about the horrible incidents that go on around the world.
I agree with Jenna the boy looks to be so innocent and we could only imagaine what happen in that couple of minutes within this photo being taken. I feel this photo could represent a number of things. It shows how some kids have to live day by day. It also represents how kids in this world dont have the life they should deserve and how we should never take what we have for granted.
I definitly agree with armaan because the neighborhood that the little boy is in does look poor because the walls look old and there is writting all over them. I definitly think that this little boy is stuck in the middle of the war.
I agree with Emily. I took one look at this photo and felt the terror portrayed in the boys eyes. He seemed so utterly defenseless, and it made me feel helpless because I couldn't stop whoever seemed about to hurt the boy. This photo is very powerful because it packs a bunch of emotion into one piece, some of it unimaginable. It definitely makes the viewer feel anger, sadness, and helpless terror.
I agree with Emma. As she said, the photo does capture a lot of emotion and all the stories that can be behind this photo. There are many words that can describe this photo like fear, heartbreaking, and much more.
I feel this photo captures this boys true emotions. He is clearly scared, and I can't imagine what life is like for this boy, and if he goes through every day feeling this scared. As stated this before, the phtographer captured this photo at the perfect time, and like Jenna said it looks as if this boy is in a defensive position.
One of the key points that shows the boy's immaturity is the toy he is holding in his right hand. Immaturity in this situation is not a bad thing but it is reality. This boy is so young and inexperienced. The toy is simple yet tells so many things. It looks hand made, which shows that this boy did not own much so he probably really valued what he did own. Becasue of his values, whatever is being taken away must mean a lot to him.
I think that the people before me make a good point in saying that the worst part of this picture is that the boy seems helpless. Hopefully, someone is coming to his aid, as it is terrible that a boy should face such fear like this. It is very difficult to put a name on the person's shadow, I can't understand how someone would do this.
I agree with both Audrey and Emm, the photographer captured so much emotion in the boys eyes and gestures. It is heartbreaking to see, but interessante as well.
I agree with what Jenna said. To capture such a powerful moment so perfectly creates an astounding image that will be "one of the best". When Jenna said the boy appears to be an innocent victim I also agree with her. A child can not cause enough harm to anyone that would provoke someone coming to their house to hurt the child. It is unbelieveable that this is what happens in certain parts of the world, and it is very sad.
As as Hayley said, hope is a word that describes this pictue. The word hope explains so much. When I hear hope, I think of the future and what can be of it. I also think of what I value. I also think about having faith. The boy in this picture wheather he shows it or not has hope, at least enough hope to go through this situation at such a young age.
I agree with Armaan, immedietly the first thing that comes to my mind is that the boy is cared and helplesss, and there is not much that he or anyone else could do. I also agree that it is terrible that a young boy like this has to fear like this, and I wish somone would help him.
I agree with Jordan when she says that she wonders who took this photo for they clearly didn't help the boy in the situation. I also can't imagine being the man that could possibly harm him. Unfourtuntaely, this is their job, and while it doesn't make it right, it gives them reasoning to commit such acts.
I agree with Hayley, Kaylee is completley wrong, I don't think taht this picture represents beauty or love AT ALL, the only thing this picture represents is fear.
I agree with Armaan, another great word that dscribes is helpless. I feel helpless is such a strong word and this boy deffienatly seems very helpless. I feel really bad for this boy because like I said before we really will never know what happened to him.
p.s Kaylee just imformed me that she never meant to say "love".
You can see so much fear and emotion in this little boy's eyes and that is what makes it the best picture. The picture captured a moment of true pain; and leaves you wondering. You can tell that the little boy looks really poor and hurt by his clothes which look like they are covered in blood and dirt. There looks like there is a wound on his stomach too. You can also see a shadow of a man with some stick-like weapon; and that explains the boys defensive posistion.
I agree with Hayley and Jenna who sense the innocense of the boy and what is going on in the photo. We are almost forced to put ourselves in the boy's shoes when looking at it, and you get an awful feeling. As Hayley said, we should never take anything for granted and this picture is able to make us realize that.
I agree with what Jossalyn said about the picture capturing so much emotion from third world countries. It's such ap popowerful picture because it portrays something we don't see every day, especially because we're fortunate enough to live in a prosperous country like we do. We don't see things like that picture where we live. It's so powerful because it shows so much emotion and fear that not only that little boy is feeling, but probably the feelings of where he lives. A lot of poeple are in the same situation he is. Not only does the photo tell the story of that boys life, but it also tells the story of life in another country.
Although the piture represents fear, there is also a deeper meaning. There is something going onin this picture that probably shouldn't be happening. Unless the child killed like 10 people he shouldnt be screaming in fear. The person who is threatening is obviously the product of a failed government. The picture makes you wonder what is going on, where this is, why its happening and how can it be stopped.
Like Emma and Jossalyn said, this photo does not only tell a story of the boy but a sotry of life in another country. Obviously, we don't see what it's like to live in other areas everyday and to see even a picture of it makes me think of what it would be like to live there. Our country is very lucky to live in such a safe, wealthy area. It's amzing to think that some people live in these areas and face situations like this daily.
Jenna, I'd also say that this picture points out what our country may someday turn into. Since everything is so bad right now, we may possibly collapse into a society where events like the one in this picture occur. That's another meaning I think it has.
I don't really think this picture depicts hope as much as it does repression. The image of a child being threatened is not hope. The image of fear is not hope. The image of someone carrying a stick in a menacing way is not hope. This picture is powerful in a way that describes cruelty towards someone as innocent as a child. If anything, this shatters the image of hope.
Emma, I agree. The picture's main representation is that of an oppresed society.
Another thing that relaly scares me is that the arm of the man with the object is in camoflogue...I don't know if its American, but it could be...That;d be an awful thing to find out if it was American.
I think that this photo is considered one of the best because it has so much emotion behind it. You can see the fear in the boys eyes, asking for help, or to stop.

ReplyDeletesome words that could describe this photo are fear, worry, sadness, hope, fright and toture.
ReplyDeleteI dont really agree with what Kaylee said when she says that this photo represents love and beauty, I feel this is far from these words.
What is in the guys hand?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jordan when she says that she wonders who took this photo for they clearly didn't help the boy in the situation.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hayley and Jenna who sense the innocense of the boy and what is going on in the photo. We are almost forced to put ourselves in the boy's shoes when looking at it, and you get an awful feeling. As Hayley said, we should never take anything for granted and this picture is able to make us realize that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Jossalyn said about the picture capturing so much emotion from third world countries.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the piture represents fear, there is also a deeper meaning. There is something going onin this picture that probably shouldn't be happening. Unless the child killed like 10 people he shouldnt be screaming in fear. The person who is threatening is obviously the product of a failed government. The picture makes you wonder what is going on, where this is, why its happening and how can it be stopped.
ReplyDeleteLike Emma and Jossalyn said, this photo does not only tell a story of the boy but a sotry of life in another country. Obviously, we don't see what it's like to live in other areas everyday and to see even a picture of it makes me think of what it would be like to live there. Our country is very lucky to live in such a safe, wealthy area. It's amzing to think that some people live in these areas and face situations like this daily.
ReplyDeleteJenna, I'd also say that this picture points out what our country may someday turn into. Since everything is so bad right now, we may possibly collapse into a society where events like the one in this picture occur. That's another meaning I think it has.
ReplyDeleteI don't really think this picture depicts hope as much as it does repression. The image of a child being threatened is not hope. The image of fear is not hope. The image of someone carrying a stick in a menacing way is not hope. This picture is powerful in a way that describes cruelty towards someone as innocent as a child. If anything, this shatters the image of hope.
ReplyDeleteEmma, I agree. The picture's main representation is that of an oppresed society.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that relaly scares me is that the arm of the man with the object is in camoflogue...I don't know if its American, but it could be...That;d be an awful thing to find out if it was American.
