Discuss your thoughts on our trip to Bryant 3/4/11. (Know/Want to know/Learned)
Last friday we took a field trip to Bryant University to check out their Broadcast studio and stuff. We got to see their control room, editing room and studio. I thought the field trip was really cool. It was intresting to see where things are filmed and how they do the post production stuff.
I thought the Bryant trip was very interesting. The broadcast studio there was really cool and it gave me the idea that maybe I do want to go into the Journalism field in college.
Prior to the trip to Bryant, I knew that it was a good place to study if you are interested in media. The trip was very fun and educational as well. I learned how much it takes to make just one show air. I was suprised to see all of the camaras and lights needed. It was also interesting to see how effort people put in to make the ones on camara look better. I want to know about how many people go to Bryant just for the sudies of media.
I really enjoyed the tip to Bryant. It was very interesting and educational at the same time. I was amazed at the technology that they used and how much work it took to broadcast something. It made me realize how much practice it takes to broadcast something perfectly. There must be many people involved and a great deal of technology used. I knew that it was a lot of work, but I never imagined it would be so intense. I also didn't expect a college to have such an upgraded broadcast program. They have multiple cameras, telemprompters, sound boards, etc. I think it would be very cool to get involved in a career involving journalism and broadcast. After attending this field trip, it is definitely something that I will consider for my future.I also learned that you must have a great deal of dedication in order to be involved in such a program. Even if you're not scheduled to be working in the studio, editing room, or control room, many choose to go in and work anyways in order to better themselves and the success of their boradcasts.
I thougth that the trip to bryant was very interstering, we got to see how they use the differnt camras and lights.Another thing that i liked about the trip was when we got to go to the control room, and use the sound board, it was cool to see how they could use the differnt sounds and have them fade in and out and also make the images appear and that kind of stuff.
The trip to Journalism was amazing, it was so much fun and the program they offer for broadcast journalism is absolutely amazing. I want to know more about broadcast journalism now and more about bryant's program.
I really liked our field trip to Bryant. It opened my eyes to the journalism courses outside of Lincoln High School. Their journalism course seemed really cool and interesting.
I had never known before that Bryant was so involved in media studyies and what not. I had already wanted to go into that field before this trip. Maybe I'll consider that for college.
When I first found out we were going to Bryant, I thought that it would be a great oppertunity to see their broadcast system and to learn how a broadcast system opperates. This was a really great experience because we got to go inside their opperating system where everything that is broadcasted is edited. Plus, we got to see the inside of their studio, where all the videos are shot. After going to Bryant for the day I realized what a good school it was for someone that loves Broadcast Journalism and so if i decide to go into that field, I will definatley consider going to Bryant.
I agree with Jossalyn also enjoyed being able to see some of the campus. It was really nice. Their broadcast program was awesaome, it looked like a real news set.
I felt the Bryant field trip was really cool, it was a great experience to go see what a professional broadcrast room is like. I thought it was amazing to see just how the acutal set looks like, and one corner of the room is perfect, while the rest is a mess.
I think that going to Bryant was pretty cool, and it helped us see what it was like behind the scenes of a news program. There was a lot of cool things that had to be done, and it was awesome seeing all the equipment they had to use. I do wonder how long it takes to learn how to use everything...I asked the lady there and she said she was a sophomore and still didn't know everything.
I never knew that Bryant had anything in the journalism field. I figured that since its very well known for being a business school, Bryant wouldn't offer many classes outside of that field. I definitely think I might want to go into this field.
I liked the Bryant field trip because we got to see where the Bryant students film their news and the sound effects that get added to it. The guy that showed us the room where they film explained when the lights were used and how powerful they are. He said that the lights are so hot that they need to keep the room on a temperature of 60 degrees so the people doing the news dont sweat. He also showed us how the cameras work and the effects that can be put on the person speaking to the camera. After we saw this room we were taken upstairs to see where the sound effects were used. This room was used to put pictures on the camera, music, sound effects, etc. I want to know how they edited the films if an error occured during the news presentation. I learned that there is a lot more hard work needed just to make one news show like when to use the lights or when to zoom in on someone when they are talking.
The journalism field offered at Bryant seemed very good. It seemed as if it provided all of the tools to make a broadcast as good as possible. This trip opened my mind about journalism. This field trip was benifical. It was good to see what boradcast journalism is like as we grow up.
While on the Bryant field trip, very often I asked myself if this is what I wanted to pursue. It seems like a wondeful career field to participate in, as our "tour guide" said that it was a growing field. Bryant has a wonderful studio and buildnig for students in journalism.
I really want to go into this field when i am older. I wonder how long it would take to learn all of the editing stuff with what ever program they use.
I really enjoyed our trip to Bryant college because it was really interesting to see where they film everything and how they control it all. We got to do hands on things with the equiptment to see how it actually feels to work with those things. I feel like we should've spent more time in both the control room and the film room because we were there for journalism and we should've spent a little more time learning about things that have to do with journalism.
Im not that interested in this kind of the stuff but i thought that all the technology they had was pretty cool including all the cameras, lights, and sound effects.

I wish that we got to see the students in action, actually broadcasting something. I knew a lot of work had to be put into broadcasting something, but I never imagined it would be that much.
The set was cool, and a learned some more about the lights behind the action on a broadcast. The broadcast studio was very like a stage, with the lights and set, only allowing the viewer to see what you want them to see.
i agree with Mckenzie about how Bryant is a good college to go to if you want to go into media because they offer a lot to you especially with things that have to do with media.
I agree with Kaylee, It would have been awesome to see a broadcast live. I wonder how it feels to be sitting on the set, performing for the camera and seeing just a big mass of darkness and flashes of a camera lense.
I also agree with McKenzie, Bryant is a good college to look into, or go to, if you're interested in a field of journalism. They offer lot, especially things in the media area. They have a lot of newer technology, which will help you alot if you're majoring in it.
I also liked the tour guide because he explained about the different parts of the stuido really well. He talked about what each thing meant. For example, he said the reason for the light on the subject was to eliminate shadows. I also never knew how many affects can be added to the broadcast to make it better, for example, sound effects.
The trip to Bryant made me want to go into broadcast journalism even more then before, im definetly going to be considering Bryant when i choose a college.
I also agree with Kaylee on how we should've seen the students in action, so it would make it seem more real and see how everything works when the students actually do things.
Also, a very cool part about the trip was seeing the technology that goes into making the set production. The lights on the ceiling going up to 1000 watts was simply amazing, and how they could heat up to 300 degrees fascinated me. I also think that the campus is amazing and a very good place to go if you are interested in journalism.
The expierience at Bryant college was great. We really got to see how much it takes just to produce a show for the school. I was also suprised to see the differencnt between our journalism program and thiers. Their Broadcasting program was obviously a lot more high tect. But it was kinda cool to expierience what it could be like to do broadcast in college.
Like many others, I agree that the lights were amzing. I found it hard to believe that they make such bright lights that could give you a severe burn the second you touch it. The way that the lights were positioned perfectly to enhance certain fetaures of a person was very interesting.
I also agree with Nick. It would have been even more interesting to see a live broadcast. Tis would give us a better idea of how everything works and how chaotic it is when they're actually filming a show. This way, we could see all the technology and aspects of a broadcast put into action.

I also agree with Armaan, I was constanly thinking about a career that i would like to pursue, involving the media, because it was very intreaasting and definatley a memorable field trip.
Bryant does seem good though. There seem like a lot of oppurtunities for you, but i would of liked it if they talked about the kind of classes they offer. That would of been very helpful. But overall the field trip did give me an inside on what it will be like, especially since id like to be a journalist.

I thought it was really interesting how much you have to do when you sit there and make a show. Another thing I thought that was really cool was all the sound affects. There really were so many sound affects from crying babies to crashing trucks.
It was really cool to see how people on tv read their lines while it looks liek they are just looking in the camera. It was so weird being on the set that just has a black back drop but on TV, there is an intricate background.
I agree with Jordan. I would be interested on going on this field trip again. As Jordan, I would also like to find out how long it would take to be trained in using all of the equiptment.
Even though, the trip was somewhat boring. It made me think about pursuing a career in the journalism department. All of the high tech stuff got me excited to take broadcast journalism next year.
My favorite part about this experience was how we got to stand on the stage and see what it's like to have to read the teleprompter with all of the lights shining on you. It really showed me what it feels like to be on camera.

I agree with Hayley, that it would have been greater if we could see how the proffesionals do it if we were able to see the students in action. The control room was probably my favorite room out of the field trip. It was a great atmosphere and I learned a lot.
I thought the field trip was very insightful for those who are interested in persuing a career in the journalism field. The trip exposed a more advanced way of learning about journalism in an environment that exceeds the one at a high school. The studio definitely puts a more advanced and interesting light on the field, and it's very cool to see what you can learn from if you keep going with the career.
I also agree with Jordan, i think that we should go onto the feild trip again but now actually be able to play around with all the equipment and maybe even film something there.
Before the trip I knew what kinds of activities come with being a journalist or having a career in the media, but after visiting Bryan I thought it was way different than actually hearing about it. It was amazing to see the studio and it was col how high tech everything was. I always had an idea of what kinds of equipment were needed in this field, but it was so cool to learn about how they work and what they're used for (like the lights). I'd like to know a little more about how everything works and how long the editing process takes, but other than that i thought the field trip was very insightful and worth taking.
The sound effects machine was also very fun to play with. It's so cool to think about how many sounds you can make with just a press of a button. It shows how advanced technology has come in terms of special effects.
My favorite part was standing on stage like Emily. It was interesting to see the bright lights and the teleprompter. It gave a real sense of what the subjects "go through." I am not saying that what they go through is tough, it just is cool to see how they do their job.
I agree with Daphne and Jordan who think that we should go on the field trip again. This time it would be better if we could stay longer and have more time to really try out the equipment.
I agree with Nick, I would've liked to see the actual Bryant students make a broadcast. I think that, although we wouldn't have gotten to play around in the studio, it would've been really cool to watch what was happening and what actually goes into making a broadcast.
My favorite part, was probably a tie between our break, and our bus ride. I enjoyed seeing college people, and on the bus, I enjoyed having Jordan sing to me.
I also agree with what Hayley said about how it was interesteing to stand on stage and see a teleprompter. It kind of gives you an idea of how much really goes into making a broadcast, even though what we see on tv isn't even half of what goes on. It seems so easy and so professional on the television, with the talent looking beautiful and perfect, even though its actually a lot of hard work to make the talen look as good as they do through makeup and light usage. To see not only the journalism aspect of Bryant but also the campus was really insightful as well, and I liked the fact that we got to explore a more presonal and first hand side of being a student at Bryant.
I think it would be very cool to actually film something in a studio like that. It would be fun and it would give us a better taste of the world of broadcasting. It is crazy to see all of the sound afftects and all of the advance technology that can make a broadcast better.
I think the field trip was very interesting. We learned how the people on TV read their lines, how the lights have to be, and much more. I did not realize how much work is put in to film a news broadcast.
I agree with Mckenzie, it would be very cool to film something in a studio like the one in Bryant. Also it is crazy to see all the sound affects and all the technology that can make a broadcast better.
Like everyone, I also thought that the sound effect maching was very cool. It was very interesting and it must make easy broadcasting even more simple. My favoirte part was sitting in the seats up on the platform. It was very cool to experience how the people on the show feel when they're in the middle of a broadcast.
I thought the Bryant trip was really fun. I never knew Bryant offered a journalism program like that. It seems like a really good feild to get into.

ReplyDeleteI also agree with what Hayley said about how it was interesteing to stand on stage and see a teleprompter. It kind of gives you an idea of how much really goes into making a broadcast, even though what we see on tv isn't even half of what goes on. It seems so easy and so professional on the television, with the talent looking beautiful and perfect, even though its actually a lot of hard work to make the talen look as good as they do through makeup and light usage. To see not only the journalism aspect of Bryant but also the campus was really insightful as well, and I liked the fact that we got to explore a more presonal and first hand side of being a student at Bryant.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be very cool to actually film something in a studio like that. It would be fun and it would give us a better taste of the world of broadcasting. It is crazy to see all of the sound afftects and all of the advance technology that can make a broadcast better.
ReplyDeleteI think the field trip was very interesting. We learned how the people on TV read their lines, how the lights have to be, and much more. I did not realize how much work is put in to film a news broadcast.
ReplyDeleteBryant seems like a good college to look into if you're looking into the journalism or media spectrum, mainly because their technolgy is more modern.

ReplyDeleteLike everyone, I also thought that the sound effect maching was very cool. It was very interesting and it must make easy broadcasting even more simple. My favoirte part was sitting in the seats up on the platform. It was very cool to experience how the people on the show feel when they're in the middle of a broadcast.
