My article was about a chlorine leak in Portsmouth that occured last night. This happened at a water plant where over 6 tons of chlorine gas is kept out of harms-way because pure chlorine gas is a respertory hazard and an irritant to the skin as stated by Captain Eric Hajder. Luckily it was stopped quickley by the fire department and so most people were not effected by this, except for those who lived very close to the plant because they were forced to evacuate.
the article is bssically about the new mtv show skins, its a look into the life of highschool students that have hormonal issues and emotional issues. This show is causing alot of people to get angry, claming this show is child pornography and that it glorifies getting drunk and high. But thats not all the show is about, people have to realize that is shows the consequences of drinking and smoking, this show is a look into what teens go through.
My topic is about this boy in Mexico who was charged with Homiside because he worked as an assassin for drug traffickers. He confessed to beheading four people. he worked for a local drug kingpin (what is that?) near mexico city. He is sentenced to 3 years in prision because he is a juvenile.
My artical is about how Rihanna and Chris Brown are going to have to sta distance at the Grammy awards this year. This is due to Rihanna's harsh beat-taking back in 2009, where Brown was charged with assault. Although both were nominated for awards, they both have to stay a minimum of 10 yards apart from eachother. If they come any closer, this will violate Chris Brown's parole.
My article was about a car found on the side of an elementry school. Some staff found the car and saw people inside. The three people inside were found dead. The staff saw a good size hole next to the car that could have tiped the car over. The are not sure what really happen but the hole is a good possibility of the cause.
My article is about Michelle Obama's choice in wearing a $35 dress in an interview as opposed to an expensive designer brand. I think this article is interesting because I feel as though a lot of people follow fashion trends of famous celebrities, and the fact the wife of the president is wearing inexpensive clothes during a time of tough economic turmoil is something to admire. She demonstrates her ability to be thrifty, even though she doesn't have to be. Although it is a little ridiculous people nowadays care so much about what celebrities are wearing, it is admirable she knows how to save and be an example.
My TMZ topic was about the missing "Superman" producer, llya Salkind, was found alive in mexico. He was reported mssing to the Mexico Citry polic on Jan 31 after he never returned to his Tepozlan, Mexico home after funning errancd. There were no other details that have beeen released regarding his condition or how he went missing. The producer was found sedated in a MExican hospital.
Tuesday this week, Ashlee Simpson, 26, filed for divorce from her husband Pete Wentz, 31. They were married for two years. Sources say that she wanted a divorce because of Pete's erratic behavior. Another source says that they have been unhappy for a long time. People magazine says that they are both really sad. Ashlee is asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their moniker-challenged son. She is also seeking child and spousal support and wants to drop the Wentz from her last name.
Jossalyn: I saw an ad for that show. It does seem like it almost promotes the use of drugs and alcholhol for teenagers. is that show a reality show or not?
My article was about how Christina Aguilera is going to try to shake off her terrible performance at the super bowl and try to make a comeback at the Grammy Awards. My question is how is it going to be possible to shake something off like messing up the Star-Spangled banner, a tribute song to our country? I honestly feel she shouldn't have a chance to redeem herself at the Grammys because it was her responsibility to represent our country well, and she surely did not.
To Josslyn's article; I have watched Skins before and I know how bad it is. I do not think it really shows any concequences, it just makes fun of and illistrates all the negitive things in teen life. Most of this stuff may happen, but usually not to the degree on the show. Teens usually pick up on the show and may try to act like; or try to be like the people on the show. I think what people are saying about it is very valid.
Emma's article interested me a lot. I agree with Michelle Obama's choice of clothing, when going to an interview. As the first lady, she should be setting an example of worrying about more important things than closing. Since she is a major icon for the United States, many kids and adults watching will follow her lead and not worry about the brand name clothes, and spend your money on more important things.
I agree with what Josalyn says to an extent. I have seen the show Skins, and I personally feel as though it does glorify some aspects of getting drunk and high. For example, most kids don't go to huge parties at a house with a trampoline in the back and pass out from pills with someone conveniently willing to help you at your side. If this happened in real life, chances are no one would think fast enough to help you. The show does show the consequences of drinking, but it depicts them as short term and easily resolved when in fact the long term consequences of drugs and alcohol are not shown in this show at all.
My particular article was about a twelve year old schoolboy killed 31 cadets at an army recruitment centre in a Taliban revenge attack. Basically, the young boy was a suicide bomber and had full intentions to kill both himself and the people in the recruitment centre. Apparently, the boy, wearing his school uniform walked into the centre, "struck in response to crackdowns by the Pakistani government on Taliban militants in tribal border areas with Afganistan." In addition, the Taliban "claimed responsibility blaming US drone strikes after the child walked into the heavily compound and denotated his device." I can't believe that this is what the world has come to. I've heard of suicide bombers before, however, I never realized that they could be as young as 12 years old. I don't understand how anyone could come to the agreement to be killed in such a violent and harmful way. I feel horrible for the 31 cadets who were killed and their families, who now have to deal withn this incident.
My TMZ topic was about how the Super Bowl last Sunday, was the most wathed event in U.S. history, it had about 111 million viewers, and about 1/3 of the popoulation watched the game.
Emma: I like that Michelle Obama was wearing a inexpensive dress. You hear about famous people and rich people buying such expensive clothing that they would only wear once. This artical was.. refreshing in a way.
Jordan: well its a scripted show, the people are actors but the show does show reality, it shows how actual teenagers with those problems are, the show gives you a look into a teenagers life. Some teens actually live like that actally drink smoke and do pills, it is a show that shows totally real things just with actors.
In my article, a thirteen year old boy got bullied and beat up through middle school. He got bullied by a pack of teenagers in Pennsylvania. For example, the boy, Nadin Khoury was walking home from school on Janurary 11th and he was randomly attacted by seven teenagers for seven minutes! The incident was fimlmed which helped in evidence and to the public. Khoury was on "the View" with his family to discuss the problem and bullying overall. At the end of the show, DeSean Jackson , Todd Herremans, and Jamaal Jackson, all Philadelphia Eagles players suprised Nadin Khoury. These were Khoury's favorite players. Jackson is the Eagle's receiver. Jackson hugged Khoury. The most touching thing in my opinion however, was when Jackson literally took his jersey off of his back, sighned it, and gave it to Khoury. He also gave the family to any Eagles game next season. Jackson reasured that whenever Nadin needed help, he had two linemans on his shoulders.
As far as Kellyn's article, I definetly disagree. Getting up all the courage to sing the star spangled banner at an even taht almost the whole watches, takes a lot of guts and I give her credit. I think she handled herself very nicely because she made it seem like she didnt even mess up the lyics. She just made it her own. If I was in her position, I know that I definetly would of messed up even bader because that takes so much confidence to do that.
I agree with Kellyn. Eventhough Christina Aguilera is a great artist, she shouldn't have messed up the Star-Spangled banner. I also think she shouldn't get a second chance to redeem herself at the Grammys.
Matthias Kaspar Schepp, 43, wrote a suicide note to his estranged wife on February third confessing to killing his missing six year old twin girls. He said Alessia and Livia were dead, and he would now kill himslef. His body was found later that day. He apparently threw himself under a train in a city in southern Italy. The girls' mother reported the girls missing on January 30th, when Schepp didn't return them. I couldn't believe this when I read it. It amazes and disgusts me as to how someone can murder something they gave life to. This is sick.
My TMZ was about a security guard who died on the set of the hit TV show NCIS. The security guard was driving a van on the set in Santa Clarita, CA, when he had a medical attack behind the wheel. The show is not releasing any names, but the 52 year old was reportedly rushed to the hospital. "Everyone at the network, the studio and 'NCIS' is devastated by the news. Our hearts grieve for his family and friends for this tragic loss." CBS has halted all recording productions of the show until all hype has died down.
I do see where Jossalyn is coming from when she claims that the show "Skins" is good because it shows the poor consequences of drinkingand smoking, however, like Emma said, it only shows the short term affects. Like many other shows such as "Teen Mom," this show most likely has good intentions, however, can be portrayed poorly. For example, i'm sure the producers of the show "Skins" meant to show that drinking and doing drugs can impact a person negatively, but at the same time, it can promote or encourage such behavoir.
I am suprised that in Jordan's article that boy was only arrested for three years, especially because mexico has much harsher punishments then we do in the U.S.
My article was about how Mike Vick (a professional football quarterback)was sent to jail for a year for making dogs fight each other until one died. Ben Rothlesburger (a professional football quarterback) raped three girls and didnt get in any trouble because of how good of a quarterback he is. I dont understand why a quarterback with less popularity, gets in more trouble than a quarterback with more popularity. What is the difference? They are both people and they both did something wrong. If a normal person with a normal job did the things these two guys did, they would get a much severe consequence becuase they dont do something on national televison
@ Emma's article, I think that is very considerate of Michelle Obama to wear inexpensive clothing as opposed to an expensive outfit that she would only wear once, and she could use that money for something useful and that is needed. I agree how she is also showing how this is a tough time with the economy and she is showing our country we need to start saving and she is a very good example setter being the first lady.
I disagree with Kellyn, no one knows the kind of pressure Christina Aguilera was under. I hope she can redeem herself. It was a mistake, and everyone mkaes mistakes every now and again.
My article was about President Mubarak of Egypt, still not stepping down. The public is at the point were they have had enough and they demant him to step down. There was an event in which the people were under the influence that the president was going to resign, but in the end he didn't. The result was rioting in the streets and chanting against Mubarak. President Obama has now come out and said to Mubarak that he should resign, and that Egypt should institute a democratic government. One thing i didn't like about the article, was it was making it seem that Obama believed Egypt would create a democratic government rather quickly.
I thought Emma's article was very interesting. Usually we see Michelle Obama in these expensive and name brand dresses. It is nice to see Michelle in a dress that is only $35. Also it shows that she doesn't care about name brand or expensive dresses.
I completly agree with Emma. Becasue Michelle Obama wore inexpenseive clothing, it gave the public eye a sense of acceptance. Michelle Obama made a great decision to make a connection to the majority of people she is representing.
I agree with what you said about the article I chose, Jordan. I think it is refreshing that celebrities are willing enough to "downgrade" themselves to wear clothing that an average american can afford.
Jenna's article absolutely disgusts me. The fact that anyone could even ask a 12 year old boy to die for the Taliban. It's awful that the families of the cadets all have to deal with knowing that their family members died because of a child suicide bomber. They didn't even have a chance to fight back or have a chance to say goodbye. They couldn't even fight. The fact that whoever was the one responsible for making this 12 year old boy kill himself for the Taliban cause is repulsive. If you want something done, the man who requested it should have done it himself instead of having a 12 year old do it. I am not at all saying that this hsould've happened and i'm not in any way supporting it, i just feel as though if you have the nerve to ask a 12 year old, who hasn't even gotten a chance to live yet, to kill themselves then you shouldn't even be allowed to live with yourself or that choice you made.
I like Nick's article. I don't understand how someone goes to jail for illegal dog fighting, but someone, more popular, rapes THREE women, and doesn't get in trouble. Thats terrible. He shouldn't be able to get away with that, otherwise, other rapists arae going to use him as an example.
To Kaylee's article: I can't believe that a grown man would kill anyone, let alone his young, twin daughters. This absolutely sickens me. To begin, I don't understand how nobody found out about this murder before he killed himself. In addition, I wonder what was wrong with this man. In my opinion, he must have some kinda of problems or issues to randomly go and kill his twin girls. This is outrageous and discusting. I don't know how the mother will move on with her life after such a traumatic incident.
Kaylee: i totally agree with you, that is sick and wrong, like how could you murder your children? there has to be something very messed up with that person.
I don't think that it's all that bad that people are taking "Skins" off the air. If people are watching a show that is influencing bad ideas, they shouldn't have put it on in the first place. It seems like there are so many shows that simply shouldn't be on. Apparently, the show did not give the truth as to what they were airing.
Kaylee's article was the very disturbing to hear about. I agree with her about how someone can do that to their loved ones. Frankly people are creepy...
Daphne and Brittany: I agree how you feel it took alot of guts to go up there and sing infront of millions of people, but she is also an artist and sings infront of millions of people all the time. Yes people make mistakes, but singing infront of many people doesn't make her mess up her own lyrics to her own songs. As a song that mostly our whole country knows, she should be included in those people and knowing she was going up infront of all those people to sing it, she should've taken the time to possibly reherse it somewhat.
I agree with Nick's article. It proves that depending of your "class", you get different punishments which is just plain out, not fair. It is rediculous that doing wrong has a consequence but it varies for different people becasue of their popularity.
My article is about supporters of Mubarak open firing at a crowd of protesters. Four were killed and thirteen wounded. This was a height of violence in the protests, with some saying that 100 more protesters were injured that night. Was the government behind this?
I think that McKenzie's article was really nice of the Eagles players to help out someone who has been bullied his whole life, however, I really hope that these players didn't just do this for the publicity because that would just be messed up.
I agree with Nick, about Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Vick. Although, Mike Vick has turned his life completly around, he speaks to youth about the wrongdoings of dog fighting, and how they should not get involved with it. Also, he had gotten Comeback player of the year, and is staying away from his bad life that he used to live. Also, Plaxico Buress the Giants former wide reciver got 2 years for gun charges, I think that was a little harsh.
Jenna: i totally agree, skins isnt a good way to show kids what drinking and smoking does in the long run and some kids that watch it may take it the wrong way, i think it all depends on how you take what the show is about and what you do based on that
McKenzie's article seems very touching. It was so nice of the football players to do that. Also the article shocked me. I cannot believe that the kid got beat up for seven minutes. Also what shocked me was that seven teenagers beat him up.
Nick's article is shocking to me. I can't wrap my head around the idea that any man would be "let off the hook" after he raped three girls just because he is a good quarterback. To begin, that is horrible representation for the team so I can't understand why any manager would still allow him to remain on the team. Second, it makes absolutely no sense that Vick was sent to jail for forcing dogs to fight, however, Rothlesburger was not sent to jail after raping three girls. This is beyond my comprehension and I really hope people speak up and assure that this man faces some kind of consequences if not jail.
Jossalyn, I completely disagree with you. That show is not a glimpse into the life of a teenager. Its an adults outlook on what teens are doing nowadays. I watched one episode, and thought it was disgusting. It is promoting alcohol and drug use of teens. It shouldn't be allowed on tv. If teens think 'Skins' is cool, they'er going to want to follow what their doing, and our society doesn't need that.
Jenna's article brings to our eyes what the world really has come to. War has brought us to the point where people are taking away a twelve year old's life, to attempt to kill their enemies. I agree with Emma, where it was not at all fair for the families who lost their sons and daughters. They never got the chance to say goodbye, and those who died never got the chance to defend their country. In my opinion, I think that in a sense, those who lost their lives got the easy way out, as those famillies will have to live with their children's death for the rest of their lives.
I agree with Kellyn about Christina Aguilera singing at the Super Bowl. She brought up a valid point saying that she sings in front of millions of people all of the time. As children have to study for tests to succed, singers must perpare and practice their songs. The National Anthem is one that is valued and respected. Aguilera should have prepared more. Yes she made a mistake and I do feel bad becasue if that was me I would no feel good, but if you fail a test that means you did not study hard enough. She failed the Nationl Anthem, she did not prepare enough.
I agree with Daphne, Kaylee's article was very disturbing. I don't understand how you can kill your children, the people you are supposed to love more than anything. And then to not even be man enough to face the consequences and just kill himself is cowardly. I feel so bad for the wife, to lose not only her kids but her husband. She wasn't even given an explanation from him, he killed himself before he could say anything to her. The least he could've done is given her a little more than a few words on a paper. That woman is living alone for the rest of her life because of her husbands unbelievable behavior. He wasn't even decent enough to give an explanation. No one will ever know why he killed them now. To live with that wonder for the rest of your life is probably the worst feeling in that world, and I hope that man goes straight to hell.
Im not sure i agree with what Jossalyn is saying about the show skins. Not many teens i know go out and party every day and get drunk and high. It doesn't really show the consequenses about being under the influence, i feel it just pressures kids to do that even more, and they think its okay to do it since tv stars doing it.
I agree with Jenna about Kaylee's article because honestly, the mother is the only one who has to suffer through the loss of her daughters, and she has to live with the fact that her husband killed them. That man was a coward becasue he couldn't except the consequences for his actions, he shouldn't have been able to get off that easily, he should've gone to prison for the rest of his life.
Roethlisberger is trying to create a new image for himself, and he hopes that his remaining fans (theres not a lot left)will stay true to him, and that he is a changed man.
Like mostly everyone else, I agree that Michelle Obama made a wise decision in wearing s less expensive peice of clothing. It shows that she is aware of the poor economy and iws accepting of things that are not necessarily brand name or top dollar. It really proves that she is willing to show the people who she is, rather than worrying about what the most expensive or fashionable outfit is. I also agree with kellyn when she says that the money she saved on that outfit could be used to put towards something more important.
Jordan: The article didn't mention when or where he killed his kids, because they still can't their bodies. Apparently his suicide not was very vague and basically said that he killed his children and was going to kill himself.
I think all the topics this week are a little cynical. A child suicide bomber, the murder of two twins, and celebrities participating in illegal activities with little to no consequence. And yet the only "good" news is that Michelle Obama looks nice in a $35 dress.
John i think that Roethlisberger did something thats really frowned upon in this society, and it will be difficult to change his image. I know that whenever someone mentiones his name, it will always remind him of how he raped someone.
Theyre are alot of teens out there who do what is shown in skins, and theres alot in our school to, it does show what happens, people dealing with emotional and external conflicts. Im not saying this show is appropriate or right, i was disgusted with the show also. I'm just saying it shows what some teens are going through, mtv couldve gone about the show differently.
@Jenna, I agree with you. Just because Michelle Obama gets nearly everything paid for her doesn't mean she has the right to live in luxury. She should have to live like a comment person, since she is a public servant.
I think McKenzie is 100% correct in what she says about Christina Aguilera. It is crucial that someone prepares for a performance, especially whnen performing the National Anthem in front of 111 million people, 1/3 of the population. She has every right to be nervous. She screwed up, and although peopole do make mistakes, it's her own fault she didn't prepare enough. She deserves a second chance as long as she adequately prepares.
I also this that Christina Aguilera should not be looked poorly upon because she messed up the star spangled banner. This is because, everyone makes mistakes and even though the song is a tribute to our country, in front of millions of people, I would probably mess up to. It's alot of pressure to sing in front of that many people, especially when you're singing such a sapecial song. I think that she should have a chance to redeem herself because it's a song, she didn't kil anyone.
It is very good that Michelle Obama is setting an example for our country to follow. If your something of a celebrity to others, you should set the example.
I think McKenzie's story truly is heartwarming. For a young boy's dream to come true and see his favorite nfl superstars. Hopefullly this boy is never touched by a bully again, but no matter how much I don't want to, I beg the question, will they always be there to defend "bad guys"?. But this boy will always remember this moment.
McKenzie: I think that Teen Mom has very good intentions in airing their show. The problems with teen pregnancy are very apparant and significant throughout the show. I do, however, think it can promote poor behavoir, depending on how you look at it.
@Shelby, I think you're right. But I wonder if more positive events were publicized, maybe our society would be performing better acts since they are influenced more positively. Yet bad news is told all the time, and bad things keep happening. Bad things will always happen, but good things happen too. Maybe if the good things were shown, it would inspire people to do more good too.
My topic is about Lindsey Lohan. She recently pleaded not guilty for grand theft. She was charged with stealing a 2500 dollar neckalace from an upscale jewler. It was reported that the judge did not care for Lindsey's fame. "Your no different then anyone else, so please dont push your luck" he stated, implying it didnt matter that she was a celebrity at all, she still commited a crime and was gonna get a regular sentence like anyone else. Lohan's bail was 40,000 until sentencing which could overall be up to 3 years in jail. I feel Lohan should not be treated any different then anyone just because of her fame; no special treatment should be allowed for her at all.
I also think Brittney's article is very interesting. Even though there is not much information on the topic, I find it hard to believe that such a wierd incident would take place on the side of an elementary school.
I do agree with Jenna when she said that Christina Aguilera should have a chance to redeem herself becasue she did not kill anyone. She can redeem herself all she wants but it may not sway people's opinions on her mistake when singing the National Anthem. I completly have understandment for her but I do think that preperation could have resolved her problem in the first place.
In the case of teen mom, I think it give syou a gist of what being a teen mom is like. Not every struglegle is shown. Obviously the show has to promote some good times too, because otherwise the show wouldn't get very good ratings. Kids realize this is not what teen pregnancy is like. It is definitely the most difficult time anyone would face as a young person. it is extremely personal and not all of it can be shown on tv.
Brittney's artile is unusuall. It's quite interesting how it was on the side of an emementry school, it raises many questions. I would be interested in a follow through story to this article.
I think Emma's point in saying that all of these articles are cynical is very interesting. I understand that this is what is interesting to the public eye, however, has the world forgot to acknowledge the good things in the world? or is there a lack of them?
Although Aguilera is a professional singer and has sang infront of thousands of people, i feel singing the national anthem is a lot of pressure. Just because she is a celbrity doesnt mean she cant make mistakes and doesnt mean she didnt prepare hard enough. We dont know her side of the story and until we do I dont feel its right that we judge her based on her preformence.
Armaan: I think when DeSean Jackson stated this, he meant that mentally, they will always be there. In my opinion, this means that if Khoury is in a terrible situation agian, he can refer to this moment giving him some reasuring confidence. I also think that it was like a joke. But yea, this story is sad and so cute. It shows that some celeberties do care and some do have lasting affects on their fans.
Hayley's article is annoying to me. Lindsay Lohan has done many things wrong and I think the public is sick of it. To be honest, I am. I understand there may be reasons that drove her to do this but it gets to a point where she needs to improve upon her lifestyle and take responsibility for her actions.
I agree with what McKenzie said. I also kind of think the football players did this so they could be viewed more positively as celebrities themselves. I think they were mostly in it for the boy, but they get personal benefit out of it too. It is adorable that the celebrities know the affects they have on their fans and emphasize that too.
I feel the show skins should get cancled because it is giving teens that watch the show bad examples of what to do with there life. When i started watching the show i really felt like it was really stupid, it was didnt really have a point, all the teens litterally did was drink and smoke THE WHOLE SHOW. It really was a waste of time and I really dont like it.
Lindsey Lohan should realize that she is a rold model to many young people, and that when she does these things, the young people think they can do it and get away with it. She doesnt know shes poisoining america's youth.
Kaylee:<3<3<3<3 Jenna i totally agree with what your saying. you think she would have learned by now but she isnt seeming to improve on her ways at all. Its kind of sad,

ReplyDeleteMy article is about Michelle Obama's choice in wearing a $35 dress in an interview as opposed to an expensive designer brand.

ReplyDeleteTo Josslyn's article; I have watched Skins before and I know how bad it is.
ReplyDeleteEmma's article interested me a lot.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Josalyn says to an extent.
ReplyDeleteMy particular article was about a twelve year old schoolboy killed 31 cadets at an army recruitment centre in a Taliban revenge attack.
ReplyDeleteMy TMZ topic was about how the Super Bowl last Sunday, was the most wathed event in U.S. history, it had about 111 million viewers, and about 1/3 of the popoulation watched the game.
ReplyDeleteEmma: I like that Michelle Obama was wearing a inexpensive dress. You hear about famous people and rich people buying such expensive clothing that they would only wear once. This artical was.. refreshing in a way.
ReplyDeleteJordan: well its a scripted show, the people are actors but the show does show reality, it shows how actual teenagers with those problems are, the show gives you a look into a teenagers life. Some teens actually live like that actally drink smoke and do pills, it is a show that shows totally real things just with actors.
ReplyDeleteIn my article, a thirteen year old boy got bullied and beat up through middle school.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Kellyn's article, I definetly disagree.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kellyn. Eventhough Christina Aguilera is a great artist, she shouldn't have messed up the Star-Spangled banner. I also think she shouldn't get a second chance to redeem herself at the Grammys.
ReplyDeleteMatthias Kaspar Schepp, 43, wrote a suicide note to his estranged wife on February third confessing to killing his missing six year old twin girls.
ReplyDeleteMy TMZ was about a security guard who died on the set of the hit TV show NCIS.
ReplyDeleteI do see where Jossalyn is coming from when she claims that the show "Skins" is good because it shows the poor consequences of drinkingand smoking, however, like Emma said, it only shows the short term affects.
ReplyDeleteI am suprised that in Jordan's article that boy was only arrested for three years, especially because mexico has much harsher punishments then we do in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma alot of the things that happen in the show are not realistic at all, and reality I can imagine would be alot diffrent.
ReplyDeleteKellyn: I am not sure I agree,Don't you think she did it by accident? Should we give her a chance at the grammy awards? How bad was her mess up?
ReplyDeleteMy article was about how Mike Vick (a professional football quarterback)was sent to jail for a year for making dogs fight each other until one died.
ReplyDelete@ Emma's article, I think that is very considerate of Michelle Obama to wear inexpensive clothing as opposed to an expensive outfit that she would only wear once, and she could use that money for something useful and that is needed. I agree how she is also showing how this is a tough time with the economy and she is showing our country we need to start saving and she is a very good example setter being the first lady.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Kellyn, no one knows the kind of pressure Christina Aguilera was under. I hope she can redeem herself. It was a mistake, and everyone mkaes mistakes every now and again.
ReplyDeleteMy article was about President Mubarak of Egypt, still not stepping down.
ReplyDeleteI thought Emma's article was very interesting. Usually we see Michelle Obama in these expensive and name brand dresses. It is nice to see Michelle in a dress that is only $35. Also it shows that she doesn't care about name brand or expensive dresses.
ReplyDeleteI completly agree with Emma. Becasue Michelle Obama wore inexpenseive clothing, it gave the public eye a sense of acceptance. Michelle Obama made a great decision to make a connection to the majority of people she is representing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said about the article I chose, Jordan. I think it is refreshing that celebrities are willing enough to "downgrade" themselves to wear clothing that an average american can afford.
ReplyDeleteJenna's article absolutely disgusts me.
John do you know if thats the most people to ever watch a sports event on televison?
ReplyDeleteI like Nick's article. I don't understand how someone goes to jail for illegal dog fighting, but someone, more popular, rapes THREE women, and doesn't get in trouble. Thats terrible. He shouldn't be able to get away with that, otherwise, other rapists arae going to use him as an example.
ReplyDeleteTo Kaylee's article: I can't believe that a grown man would kill anyone, let alone his young, twin daughters.
ReplyDeleteKaylee: i totally agree with you, that is sick and wrong, like how could you murder your children? there has to be something very messed up with that person.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that it's all that bad that people are taking "Skins" off the air. If people are watching a show that is influencing bad ideas, they shouldn't have put it on in the first place. It seems like there are so many shows that simply shouldn't be on. Apparently, the show did not give the truth as to what they were airing.
ReplyDeletewait nevermind john i see that it was the sports event most wathced in U.S. history. haha
ReplyDeleteKaylee's article was the very disturbing to hear about. I agree with her about how someone can do that to their loved ones. Frankly people are creepy...
ReplyDeleteDaphne and Brittany: I agree how you feel it took alot of guts to go up there and sing infront of millions of people, but she is also an artist and sings infront of millions of people all the time. Yes people make mistakes, but singing infront of many people doesn't make her mess up her own lyrics to her own songs. As a song that mostly our whole country knows, she should be included in those people and knowing she was going up infront of all those people to sing it, she should've taken the time to possibly reherse it somewhat.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nick's article. It proves that depending of your "class", you get different punishments which is just plain out, not fair. It is rediculous that doing wrong has a consequence but it varies for different people becasue of their popularity.
ReplyDeleteMy article is about supporters of Mubarak open firing at a crowd of protesters. Four were killed and thirteen wounded. This was a height of violence in the protests, with some saying that 100 more protesters were injured that night. Was the government behind this?
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Jossalyn said about Kaylee's TMZ Article. Who would have the guts to Murder your children?
ReplyDeleteI think that McKenzie's article was really nice of the Eagles players to help out someone who has been bullied his whole life, however, I really hope that these players didn't just do this for the publicity because that would just be messed up.
ReplyDeleteKaylee: Did the artical say why he killed his daughters? Why would someone kill their own children.?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nick, about Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Vick.
ReplyDeleteJenna: i totally agree, skins isnt a good way to show kids what drinking and smoking does in the long run and some kids that watch it may take it the wrong way, i think it all depends on how you take what the show is about and what you do based on that
ReplyDeleteMcKenzie's article seems very touching. It was so nice of the football players to do that. Also the article shocked me. I cannot believe that the kid got beat up for seven minutes. Also what shocked me was that seven teenagers beat him up.
ReplyDeleteNick's article is shocking to me.
ReplyDeleteJossalyn, I completely disagree with you.
ReplyDeleteJenna's article brings to our eyes what the world really has come to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kellyn about Christina Aguilera singing at the Super Bowl.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Daphne, Kaylee's article was very disturbing.
ReplyDeleteIm not sure i agree with what Jossalyn is saying about the show skins. Not many teens i know go out and party every day and get drunk and high. It doesn't really show the consequenses about being under the influence, i feel it just pressures kids to do that even more, and they think its okay to do it since tv stars doing it.
ReplyDeleteI think Kaylee is completely right. Teens should not be watching "Skins", where they would think its the cool thing. Good comment Kayllee.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jenna about Kaylee's article because honestly, the mother is the only one who has to suffer through the loss of her daughters, and she has to live with the fact that her husband killed them. That man was a coward becasue he couldn't except the consequences for his actions, he shouldn't have been able to get off that easily, he should've gone to prison for the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteRoethlisberger is trying to create a new image for himself, and he hopes that his remaining fans (theres not a lot left)will stay true to him, and that he is a changed man.
ReplyDeleteLike mostly everyone else, I agree that Michelle Obama made a wise decision in wearing s less expensive peice of clothing.
ReplyDeleteJordan: The article didn't mention when or where he killed his kids, because they still can't their bodies. Apparently his suicide not was very vague and basically said that he killed his children and was going to kill himself.
ReplyDeleteI think all the topics this week are a little cynical. A child suicide bomber, the murder of two twins, and celebrities participating in illegal activities with little to no consequence. And yet the only "good" news is that Michelle Obama looks nice in a $35 dress.
ReplyDeleteJohn i think that Roethlisberger did something thats really frowned upon in this society, and it will be difficult to change his image. I know that whenever someone mentiones his name, it will always remind him of how he raped someone.
ReplyDeleteTheyre are alot of teens out there who do what is shown in skins, and theres alot in our school to, it does show what happens, people dealing with emotional and external conflicts. Im not saying this show is appropriate or right, i was disgusted with the show also. I'm just saying it shows what some teens are going through, mtv couldve gone about the show differently.
ReplyDeleteEmma; i realized that. but most gossip in publicity are based of of negitive things....
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kaylee. How could someone kill family? It's horrible that people could simply kill their own kids or anyone in general.
ReplyDelete@Jenna, I agree with you. Just because Michelle Obama gets nearly everything paid for her doesn't mean she has the right to live in luxury. She should have to live like a comment person, since she is a public servant.
ReplyDeleteGio I agree with you, but I do think that Mike Vick rebuilt his image, so it is definatley possible. Although, Roethlisberger's was more serious.
ReplyDeleteI think McKenzie is 100% correct in what she says about Christina Aguilera.
ReplyDeleteJenna: do you think that teen mom influences bad choices?
ReplyDeleteI also this that Christina Aguilera should not be looked poorly upon because she messed up the star spangled banner.
ReplyDeleteIt is very good that Michelle Obama is setting an example for our country to follow. If your something of a celebrity to others, you should set the example.
ReplyDeleteMike Vick did not fix his image. Roethlisberger's was bad because he bribed them to keep quiet.
ReplyDeleteI think McKenzie's story truly is heartwarming. For a young boy's dream to come true and see his favorite nfl superstars. Hopefullly this boy is never touched by a bully again, but no matter how much I don't want to, I beg the question, will they always be there to defend "bad guys"?. But this boy will always remember this moment.
ReplyDeleteMcKenzie: I think that Teen Mom has very good intentions in airing their show. The problems with teen pregnancy are very apparant and significant throughout the show. I do, however, think it can promote poor behavoir, depending on how you look at it.
ReplyDeleteok gio
ReplyDelete@Shelby, I think you're right. But I wonder if more positive events were publicized, maybe our society would be performing better acts since they are influenced more positively. Yet bad news is told all the time, and bad things keep happening. Bad things will always happen, but good things happen too. Maybe if the good things were shown, it would inspire people to do more good too.
ReplyDeleteMy topic is about Lindsey Lohan.
ReplyDeleteI also think Brittney's article is very interesting. Even though there is not much information on the topic, I find it hard to believe that such a wierd incident would take place on the side of an elementary school.
ReplyDeleteWhy does she still get publicity? Who still cares about her?
ReplyDeleteI do agree with Jenna when she said that Christina Aguilera should have a chance to redeem herself becasue she did not kill anyone. She can redeem herself all she wants but it may not sway people's opinions on her mistake when singing the National Anthem. I completly have understandment for her but I do think that preperation could have resolved her problem in the first place.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of teen mom, I think it give syou a gist of what being a teen mom is like.
ReplyDeleteBrittney's artile is unusuall. It's quite interesting how it was on the side of an emementry school, it raises many questions. I would be interested in a follow through story to this article.
ReplyDeleteI think Emma's point in saying that all of these articles are cynical is very interesting. I understand that this is what is interesting to the public eye, however, has the world forgot to acknowledge the good things in the world? or is there a lack of them?
ReplyDeleteJenna: I know see and understand where you come from about teen mom. (i know this sounds cheesy but its not supposed to be haha)
ReplyDeleteAlthough Aguilera is a professional singer and has sang infront of thousands of people, i feel singing the national anthem is a lot of pressure. Just because she is a celbrity doesnt mean she cant make mistakes and doesnt mean she didnt prepare hard enough. We dont know her side of the story and until we do I dont feel its right that we judge her based on her preformence.
ReplyDeleteArmaan: I think when DeSean Jackson stated this, he meant that mentally, they will always be there. In my opinion, this means that if Khoury is in a terrible situation agian, he can refer to this moment giving him some reasuring confidence. I also think that it was like a joke. But yea, this story is sad and so cute. It shows that some celeberties do care and some do have lasting affects on their fans.
ReplyDeleteHayley's article is annoying to me. Lindsay Lohan has done many things wrong and I think the public is sick of it. To be honest, I am. I understand there may be reasons that drove her to do this but it gets to a point where she needs to improve upon her lifestyle and take responsibility for her actions.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what McKenzie said. I also kind of think the football players did this so they could be viewed more positively as celebrities themselves. I think they were mostly in it for the boy, but they get personal benefit out of it too. It is adorable that the celebrities know the affects they have on their fans and emphasize that too.
ReplyDeleteBrittany's article is very strange. Its extremely unusual that a car fiiled with dead people would be found at an elementary school.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm listening to DRAKE<3
ReplyDeleteI feel the show skins should get cancled because it is giving teens that watch the show bad examples of what to do with there life. When i started watching the show i really felt like it was really stupid, it was didnt really have a point, all the teens litterally did was drink and smoke THE WHOLE SHOW. It really was a waste of time and I really dont like it.
ReplyDeleteMcKenzie: wouldn't we all like to see celebrities that did this. But there's still dwayne Wade's in this world. who simply don't care.
ReplyDeleteLindsey Lohan should realize that she is a rold model to many young people, and that when she does these things, the young people think they can do it and get away with it. She doesnt know shes poisoining america's youth.
ReplyDeleteGood point Armaan
ReplyDeleteKaylee:<3<3<3<3
ReplyDeleteJenna i totally agree with what your saying. you think she would have learned by now but she isnt seeming to improve on her ways at all. Its kind of sad,
Gio; same with most kid celebs.
ReplyDeleteyeah i agree with gio
ReplyDelete
