ReplyDeleteWikileaks is where people tell government secrets in the war, like where people tell theyre next move in the war or their tactics. This is a good thing to let the people in the U.S. know whats going on. This is also a bad thing because our enemies can easily accesse this and if they get our secrets and the militarys next move then it could be fatal.
ReplyDeleteWikileaks is newsworthy because it releases classified information that was not supposed to be leaked to the public. It touches upon the seven news elements because it is an extremely important news article from a source of information which could revolutionize journalism (letting the public know what our government is hiding from us).
ReplyDeleteThis story is newsworthy because as citizens of the united states, we are now finding out about secrets in the war from a diary that leaked out to the public. Just as Jossalyn said, it's alomost a good thing that this happend so that we all know what is going on in the war, but it's a bad thing because it's anonomys and illegal, and our enemies can easily find out our secrets and that will hurt our country badly.

It is newsworthy because it allows the U.S. and other countries to access information that is supposed to be a secret. It has the secen elements of journalism. For example, it is prominent and unique because it stands out among the lists of other ordinary articles. It also causes a reaction or consequence from the people reading it.

The wikileak thing is very important because it gave away important information that had to do with the war in Iraq. That is why it is news worthy.

ReplyDeleteGeoff Moral is talking about people spreading top secret information about the government during war. They use this information to help further there progressions during the war. This is very newsworthy becuas eit shows many elements of news that we have discussed. It shows timelness because it coccured at a suitable time (recently). It shows consequence becuase it important towards the government and to our war. It is also very unique and prominent becuase people haven't heard about this in a shile.
ReplyDeleteWikileaks is newsworthy because it shows us the footage that the government doesn't want us to see. Our government does not want us to know that they do violent things like killing dozens of innocent iraqi civilians.

The seven elements of news are all in Wikileaks because Wikileaks engage people's attention since they are releasing news that effect us, our country, and the world. Wikileaks are unique because noone usually has hold of this information so they are mostly one of a kind.
ReplyDeleteWikileaks is not a very good website. It is bad for the United States. Someone anonymous has posted information releasing more than 400,000 secret records of US military incidents and intelligence reports about the war in Afghanistan. This site is illegal, however, I am curious how the people retrieved this information. Thankfully, a US military analyst is currently awaiting trial, on charges of leaking the material along with other sensitive military and diplomatic material.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is important that we know what is going on in our government and in the war in Iraq. As for classified information, I believe that if it is purposely put onto the internet for us to read then it's something that whoever posted it felt that we should know. If the creators of this site felt we should know, then countless others probably do too. It's a controversial issue, which is why it is so highly discussed and why it is so newsworthy.

It is good that we know secrets that they have been keeping from us and it is a bad thing because anyone like our enemies can see everything. It can effect us in big way.
ReplyDeleteWikileaks is an extremely controversial and illegal website in which they post information about our military. There is a reason the government does not tell us some things, sometimes people simply can't handle it. In one case, Wikileaks posts a U.S. Apache helicopter killing at least 12 people. For this person's sake, they better hope they're not found.
ReplyDeleteWikileaks was a leak of U.S. classified military documents. This article/story is very newsworthy becaus it explains a story of high treaon. A man releases the largest leak of classified information in the history of the United States, and that is unique, has consequences, has magnitude and demonstrattes the other four elements of news as well.

ReplyDeleteI think it is good that the citizens of the U.S. can at least be aware of what our country is doing in Afghanistan and other countries, however I agree that it is very dangerous to have this information available to everybody.

ReplyDeleteIt changes how we look at our military. We get upset and angry when Iraqi soldiers kill our troops, but our government tries to hide that our military is killing off innocent Iraqi citizens. Its eye opening to people, and a huge surprise to the US.

We need to have more ways to keep our information secret and more background checks on people so taht wiki leaks do not happen becuase it could be harmful to our country.

Since this information is available to just about everyone once it is on Wikileaks, any enemies of ours could grab hold of it.

It is a very serious leak, and it could potentially be dangeroues, because there are classified secrets that anyone aginst the U.S. could use against the U.S.. It meets all of the criteria of the 7 elements of news, and like Emma stated could change the way journalism works, we now know how the war in Iraq is going.
ReplyDeleteThis website has to be shared without the country, it is a necessity. People have to know about all of the secret information being posted online...TO EVERYONE! Everyone has access and that is wrong, it is wrong for this site to exist. The topic of this site is very newsworthy because it brings attention to the people that there country is in danger. This one person who created this site should be punished, he is leaking serects about all military. People need to be aware, news about this website have to get out.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Daphne, that as well as being prominent and unique, wikileaks also have timeliness. That is because they are written shortly after an event happens or as the event is happening. It is also newsowrthy because it invgolved all citizens of the U.S. and even people from opposing armies. I agree with Emma as well, because if someone is putting this online, they must feel as though we should know about it. It is highly controversial for several different matters. It could be due to the events and topics discussed or because they are anonymous. It could also be because some people feel as though this should be put online and some people feel it should be kept a secret.

ReplyDeleteWikileaks is a government based thing that focuses around the Iraqi War. There, people can leak information about the war. This affects our whole country, because it can give the middle east advantages in the war. It could be very dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI think that whoever did this is a very good person because they are alerting us. The us military is very helpful and they are GREAT people for fighting in the war but the stuff they are doing...killing inocent people is wrong and they should be repremanded for that.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that we're finding things out about our military that are classified is a huge deal. It's tough to decide who to believe or if the information is even real or not. It's a touchy situation which could have multiple consequences due to its leak.

While it's good to show Americans just what is going on, these kinds of things cannot be out on the internet wherever. This person really should stop, and our military is finding itself in some trouble.

ReplyDeleteThe wikileak is newsworthy because it reveals information that has been sealed to the public. People like to now what is going on. The issue is, once we know, its a great possibility that enemies will find out as well and war could strike here next. The government needs to keep some secrets, and for good reason.
