  1. This story is news worthy because it shows proximity, it happened in North Smithfield, which is only five minutes away. It shows human interest because parents are interested in knowing what schools are doing to stop these things from happeneing.

well uhh...its kind of a given that a teacher shouldnt be doing this anyway...

  3. This story is newsworthy becasue it is promient it happened only a couple days ago. There is proximity because it happened in North Smithfield, which is relativley close to Lincoln. It also shows human intreast, parents are intreasted in their kids saftey, and what exactly is going on in school, and what teachers do. I'm sure the parents are very angry that something like this continues to happen, and I'm sure they would like this problem fixed.

  4. This video is very newsworthy because it is making us aware of what's going on very close to us. North Smithfield is right near Lincoln, so this story effects our community too. It engages attention because we all know that this is not acceptable behavior for teachers, and he should definitly be charged. This story is being shown to the public because it would not be right to keep it a secret. Everyone should be aware of this in order to prevent similiar situations from happening and providing safety in our community.

  5. This story is newsworthy becuase it is promient it happend only a couple days ago. I think this guy is a pervert and I agree that he shouldnt even be able to teach at a school ever again or have an contact with a student under the age of 18. I personally think this man is just desperate for someone and thats why he did this.

  6. This is newswothy because it is current, nearby, holds human intrest. It is not really unique though because these kindof cases do happen sometimes. Though not really that nearby. It shows consequence because the teacher has to face the consquences that came with having a sexual realtion with students. It has human intrest since people are intrested and concerned with these kind of cases. It shows timelyness because it happened very recently. It shows prominience because people are intrested and concerned with this stuff. That is why this video is news worthy.

  9. This story is very newsworthy. People need to be aware of the teachers in their or their students school. Also, it is important everyone to know that anyone can be perpetrator of sexual assault even if they do not look suspicious.

  10. This newstory is news worthy because it is about a teacher, in a town surrounding Lincoln, who was caught sending innapropriate pictures and messages to two teenage girls that when to North Smithfield High School. This newstory has a lot of contraversy, even when the news reporters ask some parents and students that know him, it is clear that they do not all believe he would do these things, and that he is a good man.

  11. This story is newsworthy because it deals with something that draws human interest and pulls people's attention. It deals with proximity because it happened in North Smithfield, which is pretty close to Lincoln. It has uniqueness because a teacher having innapropriate relations with a student is not something you hear about everyday. People surrounding this issue are going to take notice and begin to create consequences for this teacher.

  12. This story is absolutly newsworthy because a teacher and his student were sending sexually explicit pictures to one another and he shouldn't be doing that at all.....Especially with a minor.

  13. This story is newsworthy because the parents of students in high school should be aware of something that happend like this situation. This teacher definately has problems and shouldn't be allowed to ever teach again.

  14. The video was very newsworthy. It was very newsworthy because it tells how a teacher was acting with unacceptable behavior towards students. Also, this video is very interesting. It is not everyday that you hear of a teacher that is charged with this. It also effects the community because it shows that this could happen in any school. I don't think any other teachers that worked in the school would ever think that this teacher would do something like this to any student. It really helps other schools to be careful who they hire for teachers. It could happen to any school, like I said before.

  15. This video is deffiently newsworthy because this teacher was sexually assulting kids at North Smithfield High School. He seemed to be helpful in the community as well by being the girls soccer coach and the boys basketball coach, which sort of makes this story worse because this man had a special connection with some students at the school. It makes us realize that anyone can do this, even if its someone that you think you can trust or that you look up to.

  16. This article has proximity too us because it happened in north smithfeils which is right up the road. Human intrest is shon ncause it effects parents, students, teachers and manyother people. It has magnitude because this is very serious and is very negitive, school is represented as a safe place. This guy is disgusting in my oppinion and im glad it didnt get farther than it did.

  17. If this was facebook I would like Kaylee's comment.

  18. WHY ARE TEACHERS SENDING NAKED PICTURES OF THEMSELVES?

shouldnt they be RESPONSIBLE enough to not do that? its not that difficult

    also

    1. how did he get their numbers
    2. he should of had the 3rd grade thinking ability to know to not do that
    3. uhh, why did the girls send pictures back?

DONT THEY THINK ITS CREEPY TO GET PICTURES FROM A 30 YEAR OLD MAN?

  19. This story is newsworthy because it shows proximity in this story is as it takes place just minutes away from here in North Smithfield. This is a promininet newsstory because one could say that the incereasing use of technology is to blame for this. Human interest is shown as parents are afraid for their children's safety.
Like Gio said, this kind of thing really should not be happening

    ReplyDelete
  20. I disagree with Armaan, technology is not the issure here. The reason this happened is the teacher's and the student's poor desicions. It was their desicion to do what they did, and you cannot blame anyone or anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I disagree with Armaan's coment because people make their own decisions. Many people abuse technology and it is their own fault. The technology itself is not to blame.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Like Hayley said, the teacher was the girls soccer team's coach and the boys basketball team's coach. That means that the teacher had another way to do this to the high school students.

  23. I agree with all the people who said this story has to do with proximity because North Smithfield is very close to Lincoln, therefore it's going to be a more interesting story to us. Also like Jenna said, it also has to due with human interest, because everyone who hears about this especially people who live close to it, like us, they all have mixed emotions about the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Like Gio, I don't understand how they could pin the entire blame on the teacher, the girls responded as well didn't they?
They were being just as stupid as him

  25. This article is newsworthy because it happened in north smithfield, near lincoln. It is sad to find out it was a teacher. Alot of parents are mad and do not want things like this to happen in school around their children. Everyone is going to look at him different after what he did.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree with everyone that said that this newstory is unique, because it is. This is not an average thing that happens everyday, this is a very serious matter and hopefully if this teacher really did all of these crimes, then he will spend a long time in jail and learn his lesson.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think that this article also draws attention to the students involved in this school. Even though this man was a teacher and should know better, I think that these girls are old enough to know that what they did was wrong and they shouldn't have done it. The fact that this went on for about 2 years amazes me. It's hard to believe that the parents of these girls or the school did not find out sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think that the teacher should not be sent to jail because the girl is almost 18 and anything 18 above is considered an adult. I think he should be on probation and lose his job at the school but i dont think he should face jail time

    ReplyDelete
  29. As Shelby said, the article shows magnitude since this is a serious matter and does not happen on a regular basis. I agree with the point Hayley brought up about how he acted innocent like he was this nice guy, but he was really hiding some secrets. This makes us aware that everyone isn't what they seem, and we need to be cautious about the interactions between students and teachers.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with Gio, why would the teacher have the student's numbers in the first place? Thats just weird. I also wonder, what were his motives to do that?

    ReplyDelete
  31. While John and McKenzie may disagree with me saying that technology shares part of the blame here, I say this because it is the girls fault they gave their numbers to the teacher. When I say technology is a problem, I don't mean it takes all the blame, all three parties deserve a part in the blame.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I also dont understand how the teacher isnt charged more for what he did because he did a number of things that were really bad. He did things including child pornagraphy and possesion of drugs. These actions alone show that he should have gotten charged more.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Armaan, the blame is entirely on the teacher and the student, as I said before, like Mckenzie said they abused technology, and it would be idiotic to blame technology on this one.

  34. This video is very newsworthy. An adult having sexual relations/encounter with a minor is against the law. This obviously angered parents and worried them as well. The girls he was sexting with can be scarred for life. The proximity of the people involved is also a BIG factor of why its newsworthy. It happened in North Smithfield, a ten minute drive from Lincoln. REMEMBER KIDS, TEXT, *DON'T* SEXT, BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT THAT SEXT ON THE NEWS. also, you can't take back what goes online, soooooo TEXT, *DON'T* SEXT.

  35. This event was very newsworthy. It was newsworthy in proximty and timeliness because its happened recently and it happened very close to lincoln. It shows consequence because this may have happened before and they want to show awareness towards sexting. The quality of the story engages the reader because its something that you would never want to dream of happening because teachers are supposed to be protective and adults you are supposed to trust them. It is very unique because this doesnt happen very often and teachers dont normally do this.

  36. I'M NOT BLAMING TECHNOLOGY HERE. I WAS simply saying that the girls should not have given their numbers to them. IF THEY DIDN'T GIVE THEIR NUMBERS, WHY DID THEY RESPOND?? I'm not saying that it is a cell phone's fault, just how they abused it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The article also shows consequences, because as a result of this story, the school administrator's will become more aware of these things, and take steps to stop it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I also agree with Gio. It's partly the girls part too because they also took part in the sexual relations.

  40. This story has human intrest because there are so many cases in which sexual harassment occures attracting not only any veiwers attention but previous victims. Also, the magnitude in this story is immense. This story affects a number of people. It affects concerned paretns, victims, and students. In addition, this story has proxmity becasue it is local specifically to where I live, Lincoln Rhode Island attracting my personal attention. One main aspect in this story is consequence. Hopefully this sexual pervert will get the punishments he deserves for being an immature user.

  41. Armaan, you removed your first blog, that said that you blame technology.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I Think that many people sext. they just dont get cought. so when they find out that a kid and a teacher have been sexting they are going to be mad. Beacuse one shes was under 18 and that makes BAD!I dont understand why he would have sent bad pic. i think that kids shoudent have teachers phone number and kids shouldent have teachers number its just wrong. LOVE JORDAN <3

  43. I think John should mind his buisness

    ReplyDelete
  44. A SAFE TEXT IS A GREAT TEXT, SO DON'T SEND THAT LATE TEXT, THAT BAD TEXT ISN'T A GREAT TEXT, THAT BAD TEXT IS CALLED A NAUGHTY SEXT.

    ReplyDelete
  45. forget it, you are not understanding the focus of what I'm saying. My first blog sounded wierd when I included uniqueness and sexting in the same blog, so i edited it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I DONT UNDERSTAND ARMAAN POINT! This is because this story i feel has nothing to do with abusing technology at all, the teacher sent texts to students that were not good and the fact that the girls sent text back makes this story alittle suspicious.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree a lot with what Jordan says, i'm sure a lot of people sext, they're just probably all minors involved, so they don't get caught. Since it is an adult sexting with a minor, it is a crime, so it is newsworthy.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Intrested point Armaan because before you were blaming technology but whatever. Yes, it was also partly the girls faut, definatly. They should not have participated in this sexual involvment even if they felt obligated. These kids and teachers have been texting for two years and I am sure that the teacher did not say the first day "I will kill you if you tell someone I am texting you." Even if he did you go straight to the police. And if he did not say that they should not have been texting a teacher, that is irresponsible and suspicious. Also, the girls may have not given the teahcer their number but when they received a text from someone they didn't know, they should have stopped texting.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think it was bad on both thr parts for doing such a thing. Although technolog was invlved, its the person who used it's fault.
