  1. This artical is newsworthy. It shows how some people are driven to extremes after a tramutizing experience. Sometimes driven to sucide. It was a tragity for the school he was a student at. He was a known and well liked student.

  2. This story is newsworthy because it's a constant issue within a community- stereotyping and discriminating, in this case against those who are gay. An event such as a suicide often sheds a lot of light on the topic of bullying, which is an issue all around the country. This is why it effects students everywhere- bullying is in every school, and sometimes it gets taken too far to the point where someone hurts themselves, or others (i.e. Columbine). Anyone who wants to make a difference in people's lives, perhaps those whom are being bullied, would want to further investigate this because it would perhaps prevent an event that could take someones life, or the life of others.

  4. This article is newsworthy because it was a tradgic event that opened the eyes of many people. This incident involved several different issues. It involved cyber bullying, gay controversies, and suicide. Due to the amount of cyber and anti-gay bullying, this person was pushed to commit suicide and end his life. This person did not do anything wrong and was still tormented. In addition to this, this person was only a young boy having only been a freshman in college when he took his life.

  5. This story is newsworthy because, tradgedies like this don't happen every day. It's sad to know that a student would do something like this to themselves because of bullying. All students should be aware of this because hopefully it will make them think about what they say to their fellow students before they say it. I would definately want to interview the person who made the rude comments to the young boy who killed himself, because i would want to hear from that persons point of view and see how they feel about this whole situation.

  6. I think that this article is sad because i dont thnik anybody should committe suicide because of a thing they did. Even if anyone makes fun of them.

  7. I think that this is also newsworthy because people don't realize how their words and actions can effect a person. If people can say something so shallow and mean to lead a person to kill themselves, then there is something seriously wrong with all of the people that feel like they can say what they want without any consequences to their actions. What happened was wrong, the result that came out of it was wrong, and all in all this entire thing was a preventable situation. The point of broadcasting this story is to try to prevent it from happening again, or maybe give a little insight to the people who would think about bullying someone else again.

  8. I think that this story is newsworthy because Tyler Clementi is one of the many people who have committed suicide because they could not take the harassment that people made fun of him because he was gay. In this case they had actually recorded a video of Clementi, which caused him so much humiliation that he could not live with himself anymore which leaded to his jump into the Hudson River. It is important that everyone reads this article so they realize just how much bullying effects people's lives. This is just one of the many cases where students have committed suicide because they were being bullied.

  9. Ive seen alot of this on the news lately. Even in this school. People being teased just bcause they are not "perfect". The suicide rate is going up in this country, now that they have all these websites like facebook, myspace, formspring, aim, twitter and so on... People don't have the guts to say things to peoples faces, and they just like to cause stuff. Drama is like a drug to some people, they steal some of people's dignity in order to get high off of it. Videos, pictures, quotes, and just trash-talking is spit out all over facebook ecspecially, and then you get to school and half of the time its like none of it ever happened. I hope np ther lies are taken over cyber-bullying.

  10. I think this article was very newsworthy. I say that because this article helps students learn not to make fun of someone if they are different. This has to do with students everywhere because it shows that you should be respectful to every student. If I could interview one person if I were to investigate this further, I would interview the mother of Tyler and ask her all her thoughts about this.

  11. This article is newsworthy becasue like Emma said its a constant issue in a communinity. Students everywhere can learn from this, that their taunting and pranks can lead someone to sucide. Also homosexual students are affected by this to, it probably makes them scared to come out of the closet. Scared that someone could do what happend to the boy in the article to them.

  12. This is also a newsworthy artical because it now makes people more aware of some of the cause and effects of sterotyping and bullying.

  13. This article also involved many people. Not only was the person who killed themselves affected, yet so was all of his friends, family, classmates, teachers, etc. By killing himself, he did not end the suffering. He only spread it to other people who cared about him. The fact that he was gay was no reason for him to be bullied and pushed to his limits. This is not the only incident where a student has committed suicide due to bullying or discrimination. It is one among many. I think that another reason it was so "newsworthy" was because the people who posted the videos online probably didn't know it would drive this young man to kill himself. A simple action could ruin someone's life and unfourtunately lead to a death.

  14. If I were to investigate this farthur I would immediatley ask Clementi's roommate and the other boy that helped record and post the crude video of Clementi, in my opinion, they are responsible for his death. If they had never harassed him or bullied him, Tyler Clementi would still be alive today.

  15. I believe this article is very newsworthy, and you can learn alot from it. Its very sad, and tragic what had happened to the student, what had forced him to commit suicide. It makes me really mad when a student commits suicide. The bullies that did this, and bullies around the world need to understand that what there doing is wrong.

  16. the article is a great example of how sad and pathetic some people can be. No matter how many memorial services there are, no matter how many vigils there are, there is a kid who killed himself, and hes never coming back.

  17. This article was newsworthy because bullying is a national epidemic in the US. Kids are bullied and pushed over the edge to the point where they commit suicide, like Tyler Clementi. Another issue today is anti-gay, and gay hate groups. This seems like a hate crime, which is happening a lot nowadays. This is a tragic event that could have been easily avoided.

  18. I feel that what happend to this Tyler Clementi was unjust. He should be able to express his feelings for the people he likes without having to worry about people makin fun of him.

  19. This is news worthy because he committed suicide because of bullying. He was cyber bullied and was made fun of. He took his life away because of other people. That is sad, and knowing the other people don't care it is there fault.

  20. Like many others have stated, this article is also newsworthy because it opens many eyes to the issues of bullying and discriminating. It teaches children that they should watch their actions and realize that even the smallest of actions can ruin someone's life. This article could be used as a lesson to all that bullying is not acceptable. In addition, I agree with Emma when she said that bullying is a common issue among many places and this article could help to put an end to it.

  21. After reading this story, I think the article is very newsworthy because as Emma said, a very extreme tragedy occured due to the ignorance of others. This article will hopefully create more awareness of the effects bullying can cause to people. The death of Clementie was a terrible event, and could have easily been prevented. This has to do with students everywhere because they think that picking on someone is a harmless joke. Obviously it is not. It can lead to awful consiquences, even death.

  22. This article is newsworthy because this happens to many teens all the time. It seems that we always here stories about these kind of things at least once or twice a month. I dont understand why anybody would do something like this knowing this happens all the time.

  23. I think that this vigle was a great way to raise awareness of situations regarding bullying. Hopefully ceromonies like this will prevent any more suicidle actions. Also this vigle must have been very helpful for teaching other adolescents how much they would be missed if they committed suicide. However, it also teaches kids that by their actions of bullying, they can cause one less person in the world.

  24. I agree with all the people who said this article is newsworthy because they think students should know about this. I also think students should know about this because they really need to consider thinking about what they say to someone before they say it. Look what happend to the kid who killed himself..obviously the student who said something to him didnt think about what they were saying.

  25. If I were to investigate this further, I would want to interview parents, students, teachers, and friends of the victim. I would do this to see if there were any signs of depression before the pictures of his encounter hit the internet. If there wasn't, it would show that he killed himself as an effect of the scandal. To me, it seems like a hate crime. The roomate claimed it was a 'stupid prank', but i've never seen anyone take a prank to this extreme a level.

  26. Like Kellyn, if I were to investigate further, I would interview the roomate and other student who drove Clementie to take his life. I would like to see how they feel about it now. What their reactions are now that the joke is over, and a life is gone.

  27. I also hope, like Jessica said, that this article will open the eyes of all bullies, and teach them not to bully people anymore.

  28. As Jenna and many others stated, this article is newsworthy, because it makes more people aware of situations like this. Weather you are for or against homosexual relationships it seems evident that making fun of people for their beliefs is cruel and unjust. How could anybody feel it is okay make fun of someone to the extent when that person starts to feel bad about hiself? How could they feel it was okay to make fun of Tyler so much that they gave him the feeling that life would be better without him?

  29. This article is newsworthy because it reminds people and warns them that sometimes being mean to someone just because they're different in some way can have terrible results. This is one of the more saddening happenings. Sometimes people go bad and become criminals. Bullies need to learn their actions and back off. To investigate this event, I would interview the bullies, friends, or family. Did Tyler Clementi have low self-esteem?

  30. This article makes me wonder;, what if Tyler had not told his parents about his beliefs regarding his spouce? What if he had not told anyone? What if he was waiting for the right time to reveal his feelings? Well because of two cowards his secret was revealed, not only was it revealed to Tyler's family and friends, but it was revealed to thousands fo other people.

  31. This article should help convince people to stop messing with others.

  32. This has to do with us as students, because it spreads awarness and shows us kids that things like this do happen and will happen if we dont start taking control of the situatuion and stop it.

  33. I feel that this article is newsworthy becuase people should learn that bullying always ends in disasters. The article was in the news becuase it was reflecting on how someone lost their life becuase of bullying. I agree with Kellyn, people should always think about wahat they say before they say it. I would want to interview the victims mom and dad because they are the people that got the most greif over the diseaster.

  34. I think that this article is a great example of how technology can be good and bad. Clearly technology is good for studies, entertainment, and more, however, it shows that technology can be a cause of death. It can cause a person's deep secrets to be revealed. It can let out ones beliefs he/she wants no one else to know. It can cause a person to feel so bad about him or herself that they end up taking their life.

  35. If I were to interview someone about this case, I would like to interview the parents of the kid that commited suicide. The questions I would like to ask the most would be about the signs the kid was showing before his suicide.

  36. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), surpassed only by accidents and homicide, it states that scuicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15- to 24-year-olds. This proves that bullying is causing many deaths now-a-days and we need to prevent it. Hopefully this vigal will raise awarness throughout the news, and bullying will decrease as will the number of deaths due to scuicide amongst teens.

  37. I agree with Daphne and Kellyn who said that people should always think about what they say before they say it. I also feel that bullying always ends badly.
