  1. This artical was very much newsworthy. It was news worthy because it was a tragedy and a terrible accident. It is unknown how the man died, but that he died at a local 5k run that over 10thousand people particapate in. I also personaly think it was news worthy because I was there, at the race. I was working there so I did partialy witness this event. And I possibly did meet the man since I was working at the registration table. This is also news worthy because it is still unknown how he died and that his death affected those at the race and the CVS caremark people.

  3. I believe it is newsworthy because there was EMTs on site at the race, and he still died. The CVS 5K race is supposed to be fun and safe. It caused a disturbance in the race, which worried people. This was some bad publicity for CVS.

  4. This is newsworthy because it is an article about a local person participating in an activity that a ton of other people do annually- but this year he died. This is the type of thing to happen that is unusual for an event like the 5K annual race, so the fact that it did happen is newsworthy and interesting. There is also a bit of mystery behind it, because the runners age, address and if he actually participated in the race is controversial. Not only this, but the recount of the story is interesting- the situation and how fast the EMT's arrived, and how they tried to help him amoung the thousands of people who must've been there that day allows for an intense story laced with a bit of mystery, yet an overall trajedy.

  5. This artical is newsworthy because things like this dont happen often, especially around our area. They stated that this was confirmed a tragedy, which i agree completely. You dont hear everyday that a man running a 5k run just dies right there and then. This artical is very newsworthy because people should know what's going on around us.

  6. The artical was newsworthy because someonerrom our town died during a popular race. It is in the news because people are questioning how he died and why the ambulences hadnt get there fast enough. The death happened in front of millions of people participated in the race and people on the sidelines. Which makes many people witnesses and distrought about the issue. Once the police and doctors reveal the cause of death and what actually happened, I believe that there will be a followup article.

  7. I also believe it is newsworthy because the man died so young, and no one is letting out anymore information on the topic. People are curious, so this is definitely a newsworthy article.

  8. I feel this article is newsworthy. Its about a local event that a lot of people participate in, and it shows you that safety is very important. I feel bad for the man and his family, and wish them the best, and this event might change how the CVS 5k race approach things, and how prepared they will be next year.

  9. I feel this article is newsworthy because as Jordan said it was a tragedy. It was a sudden unexpected event, so it shocked many people when they heard. It was also a local event, in downtown Providence, so its in the news because I'm sure many people are interested in it since it happened right near us.

  10. This article is newsworthy because it has to do with a tradgic situation where someone ended up dying. The man who died seemed to be your average guy who participated in several races. It was intriguing because these races are held annually and with EMT'd supposedly on the scene, it nobody thought that it would have lead to a death. This also caused controversy because people wondered how fast it took the EMT's to arrive on the scene. As of now, the cause of his death is unknown but we do know that it occurred at the 5K race. He was also a firefighter. This makes the article even more newsworthy because this man helped and saved people for a living. In addition to this, there were so many surrounding people that it made the story more known. Because the death was so sudden and unexpected, it is no wonder that it made the news.

  11. I also think it is news worthy because there were EMTs, amubulances and officals at the finish line, yet the man did not recive medical care quick enough and died. And it was not told in the artical how he died.

  12. The artical was newsworthy because this is something that has never happened before. CVS, who does these 5K races annually, has never had someone collapse dead before. It is always seen has something fun to participate in, and now the 5k is portayed a little differently. People are talking about they mystery of the EMT's and the missing identity, but overall, it is a tragedy that this young man died.

  13. This is news worthy because it is a article about a young man who died racing. They don't know much of what happened and they also don't know who he is or anything about him. This is also very sad to here about someone who died at an event everyone was at.

  14. This article was newsworthy becasue it was a terrifying accident that of course nodbody wanted to happen. This is a sad loss for the family of this man. I remember when i was about ten years old and there was a kid of the baseball team and they were running around the field and he collapsed and ended up dieing. The said he had something wrong with his heart since he was born and it was a tradgic death.

  15. I feel that this article was newsworth because it shows the public that a tragedy can occur at any given moment. It teaches us to always be prepared for the worst. I am infering the Sean Duarte, "over-did it". He may have worked so hard and his body could not take it anymore. This teaches the public eye to stop a physical activity when your body tells you to. I think of it in terms of, "what's worse, dying or coming in last in a race?" I also feel this article is newsworthy because Sean Duarte was just a regular 29 year old man, trying to help the community. This shows that not everything is fair in realiity. It just does not seem right that a genuinely kind citizen died after simply doing something good for himself and others.

  16. I thought this article was very sad, a guy only 29 years old died at a 5k run. I also think that the article was very newsworthy because a young guy running in a 5k run died, and things like this do not usually happen. Also the article makes people want to know about the man because there is very little information about him.

  17. I agree with what Jenna and Emma said because it is suspicous that much of the information is being kept confidential. There could be many factors to why this young man died that are being hidden to the public.

  18. This article was newsworthy becasue it shows how at something so nice a terrible tragic thing can happen. It was so local and close to home and thousands of people were there so its very newsworthy.

  19. This is newsworthy because it was a tragic and unexplained happeining at a community event. Most people do not think about people dying in marathons, because the are supposed to be healthy and safe. Also this event was in our aea so it will connect to people. My dad helps with the 5k race, since he works with he company, so I already knew about this.
People are attracted to tradgedy for some wierd reason, i dont know why. They are amused by reading about bad things that happen to people, and mistakes. I guess its just part of journalism.

  20. This article is newsworthy because is it explains the tragedy of what happen to this man, Sean Duarte. It is unkanown how he died and not a lot o information is able to be realaesd to the public. It sounded like everything would be under control since there were EMT's on the site if anything like this were to happen, and yet he still died.

  21. I also think this article is newsworthy because this event is something that is suppose to be fun, nothing like this has ever happened before.

  22. This article is definitely newsworthy. The CVS 5k race may have been keeping an eye out on safety measures but they not have warned the runner(s) of how hard the race can be. Were the runners supplied with water? I feel bad for the family of this runner, and hope CVS 5k keeps an eye on their runners and keeps them a bit safer.

  23. People might think of the effects this has on CVS, and the future of their 5k races. Will people want join anymore? I think they were right to keep emergency vehicles at the start/end of the race, a smart thing to do. But I still wonder how they man died with the EMT's right there?
