To be honest I'm not surprised that Paris Hilton got caught for having cocaine since she has been in trouble for possession of drugs before. Because she is in the spot light so much, she should know that setting the wrong example would be harmful to her reputation.
I like how the author included Paris Hilton's past offenses, as they supplied some backround information on her. Mentioning these past events also helps describe Paris as a person to the reader. One question I do have is how do journalists and newspaper reporters get their information?
I feel that this is a prominent story because Paris Hilton has a reputation,in my opinion however, it is not a good reputation. Hilton's passed experience with possession of drugs, other felonies,and her fame are main factors why she is in news articles so often. Because she is such a big media icon she should be a role model and it is evident she is not acting in that position.
In my mind, Paris Hilton is just digging herself a deeper hole. This is not the first time she has been caught with illegal substances, and with her reputation and fame, lots of people will find out. I think someone like her should try to set a better example for followers. People are starting to see who Hilton really is.
It seems to me that Paris Hilton and her lawyer and such have tried multiple times to keep Hilton's mistakes hushed up. But since Hilton keeps repeating her flaws, she has built herself a bad reputation allowing people to think of her as another celebrity gone bad.
I was the least surprised when I read the article regarding Paris Hilton and her recent arrest. This is because there have been several prior incidents where Paris has gotten herself into a bit of trouble. I believe that this article was prominent because Paris is a media icon and rather popular in my opinion. After getting into some trouble previously, she made a claim that she was going to raise money for children and cut back on her partying. Due to her recent possession of drugs and her lack of fundraising for kids, one could assume that Paris is dishonest and immature. This would also mean that she does not have the skills necessary to take over any business owned by her family. This recent arrest will definitely help to decrease her popularity and the amount of fans that look up to her. In my opinion, she is just destroying her reputation furthermore than it has already been ruined.
Paris Hilton is both immature and stupid. She had been caught with drugs before, and surely will do it again. After her jail time Paris had stated that she had changed, and that she was going to raise money for children, which had obviously never been a priority to her. Then again I feel the only priority to Paris Hilton is partying, and of course drugs. She is ruining her reputation, and even worse her familys reputation that they had worked so hard for. Any chance of Hilton changing is highly unlikely, her reputation as a drug addict, and a partier is all that people will think of her.
I also was not surprised when I read this article about Paris Hilton. As others have already said, she has gotten into trouble with drugs before, so it did not come as a big shock to be that it happened again. This is a prominent story because Paris, along with the rest of the Hilton family, are famous and well known throughout the country. When a large icon like Paris slips up, especially after claiming she would not be involved with drugs anymore, the media is definitely going to investigate further and make it a top story.

She must also know that if you have money in todays society, it can get you out of a lot of trouble. After a previous offense, she stated she was going to set a good example and start organizations for children, breast cancer, and MS. If she had followed through with her word, there would be some notification on the news or in tabloids, which there has not been. I do not think this will hurt her reputation, it has already been tarnished time and time again, so I am sure the public is not surprised. It does however show her level of maturity, and will ultimately hurt the family business. This is not the first time Paris has had issues involving illegal substances and by all of her previous offenses, I doubt it will be her last.
As many people have already said, i am the least bit suprised that Paris Hilton was yet again arrested. I had gotten more intrigued by the article when they had broughten up her previous sentences. It had helped me develop my feelings towards Paris Hilton. If this had been her first arrest, i could understand that some people might forgive her, but seeing as how this was one of many arrests she has become less and less trust worthy. As an icon she needs to understand that everything she does has a consiquence and that shes being looked up to as a role model for some young children. This is a prominent story because its not the first time that paris has been arrested, and she had broken her promise about running charities. Paris had one responsibility, to stay out of trouble, and she has already broken that rule not one, but many times. The outcome is that the press pounce on her every time she slips up to prove that she is not mature and responsible.

Alot of famouse people think that because they have money that they can just pay there was through everthing. I dont think that is fair, many young girls do follow in her footsteps and many of them may think thats alright to do those kinds of things and clearly its not.

Her actions have their consequences, not only to her (by ending up in jail) but her fathers hotel chain is probably suffering as well. Once she takes over, the Hilton Hotels are going to lose a ton of money because no one will want to be involved with someone as irresponsible as Paris. Not only does her actions display her irresponsibility, but the shows she participates in also make her look immature, and quite frankly pretty ditzy. No one is going to want anything to do with her when it comes to handling millions of dollars in financing. Because the Hilton family are famous, their actions are blown up to a much bigger scale, and because Paris has a record, her story becomes even more newsworthy.

Paris thinks nothing to bad will happen to her if she keeps doing these kind of things and nothing will becasue of how people treat celebrities. Maybe nothing bad will happen to her but alot of bad things will happen to the Hilton Hotels and the finances and their buisness becasue of this behavior. Shes snobby and selfish and stuck up.
